I am in a transition period and I am selling my Vinyl Music Collection. With the return of vinyl it is a perfect time. I saw one of my albums from the 70's in Walmart the other day for $20. I am not asking that kind of money for my collection.

I started at a young age with many LP's from the early Rock era. Then in 1978 I started DJ and collecting Vinyl 12". I joined the Southeast primer record pool, Dixie Dance Kings and my collection took off. I have over 2,300 pieces that I am selling. Actually it is about everything I owned. I have cataloged, in a spreadsheet, each one with Artist, Title, year, Type and some other information. I have not cataloged my CD's yet. I am working on that. My collection includes, Rock, 50's & 60's, Disco, the start of the 80's Funk, Motown, Beach, plenty of Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna and so much more. There are numerous gems (pun on my name) in my collection I also have Ultimix and Funkmix, Disconet and many other special remixes. Like many of you, music was my livelihood so I did everything I could to protect my collection. Reach out to me if you have a questions or can point me in a direction to help sell this collection.

I can share my spreadsheet with someone that may be interested.

Always looking to pick up CDs .. vinyl not so much.

I'd love to buy it all but my wife would stab me in the head with a fork LOL

i let all my vinyl go a few years back...and regret it... i have noticed some of my young friends collecting vinyl and paying insane prices.... apparently only one factory is still pressing ...so i realize why the prices are up for new stuff... but its hard to restart a collection at those prices... im sure you will find some interested parties!

Well I got good news & bad news. Yes you’ll see records for sale for crazy prices but they don’t really sell many of them. And when people do buy them at those prices they want it in perfect/new condition. You can sell records online but you are going to have to list each records & wait/hope someone finds it though a search. My friend buys & sell collectable reggae records, its a really niche market with a very select client base. I’d say the best time for selling vinyl was in the mid 90’s. People were still using vinyl & CDs were just starting . So then I could get $3 to $5 for 12” or LP maybe $10 if it was special but those had to be shipped out. Now I get just $1 per record when you buy 50 pieces and it might take a person a hour or more to go though the collection. A couple times I had problems getting people out but that was years ago. There plenty of records everywhere now so when a family finds them they just give them to second hand stores or just give them away. It maybe the same thing with CDs now, I know I don’t use them anymore, it’s been almost 15 years. But I am keeping them for now as I do play the Digital files.

Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me. I have got my collection down to about 15 Crates. Unfortunately it’s mostly out of order now and I was not able to track what was sold then acquired some additional crates (yes, was going to sell them for big bucks) along the way.
