I like it. Just trying to think of a way to turn a long walk into an asset (with something creative). As I was taking pics this morning and walking towards the ceremony site the thought hit me, "Man, this is a great opportunity for reflection or perhaps a nice conversation with dad." I think this can be turned into a positive. Thanks for input fellas.

Maybe call that the "last chance to run away" spot....

Got your golf carts ready??

I have one cart, that needs some maintenance. Batteries are on their last leg and it has a back tire with a leak. Thanks for reminding me of something else that I have to get done. ;)

The bridal cabin is cool, but what you really need down there is a groom room... a place where the groom and groomsmen can hide out of sight while the bride and bridesmaids assemble and get themselves ready at the main building. Stock it with a mini putting green, a TV and Playstation, a guitar, some club chairs, etc. It only needs to be used for about an hour before the ceremony, but it's something that other venues just don't have.

This is a big trend here and any venue doing a renovation is adding this

Already have it. I'm moving the groom room to the old bride's room (it's bigger) as soon as the cabin is up and running. It's a good idea.

At church a lady came up to me and asked if I still had the venue. She told me she had a large chandelier, and just wanted it to find a good home. I went over yesterday and picked it up, then came back to the venue and hung it. She wouldn't take any money (I tried). I also recently bought 4 chandeliers from Amazon ($180/each). I really like what it's doing for the room and wanted to share. I'm guessing that thing would go for $3k-$4k. It's 4 feet tall and I didn't even count how many bulbs it has in it. Check this out.

That looks great with your other chandeliers. I just need to warn you that you seem to be becoming quite proficient with your decorating skills. You could be in danger of losing your man card.

It's a real concern. I'm surrounding myself with females who will hopefully take care of that girly stuff. ;)

I'm filling in slower months with birthdays and graduation parties. I can usually get $750 for those. Community events don't pay, they're freebies so I do very few of those. I dumped showers and 1-year-old bdays, as they never wanted to pay more than $250 and it's just not worth the time. I have hosted one community yard sale (I let them use the parking lot with no building entry) and ended up picking up a birthday @ $500.

On the walkway, I'm probably going to go with asphalt for the walk from the barn down to the ceremony site (200'). I just got a quote for $5,825 from the first paving company. I'd prefer concrete but it's 3-4 weeks, just to get a truck out and there's no way to get a truck down the hill without getting stuck. I haven't been able to find a concrete pump anywhere.

Have you priced large, flat pavers?
(like the big bluestone walkways)

The pathway and ceremony pavers are done already. I'm pretty tapped out ($$$) currently so any more projects are in a holding pattern until some more money comes in. I do like those big pavers though. I used 12" for the ceremony aisle and am pleased with how well it turned out. After getting the paver sand installed/wet, it locked down nice and tight. As of now, my biggest task left to get done before 5/21 is the bridal cabin. I'm doing wiring this evening, then installing beds and other decor. I also have a mini split system coming on Friday, so that will be this weekend's project.

There is that decor word slipping into your conversation again. Good thing you are doing the wiring and installing the mini split. It is the only thing keeping that man-card intact ;)

I'm sure I speak for everyone here....we are so proud of you and this accomplishment! Well done my friend! Looking forward to future gig logs!

Thank you, so much for the kind words. This has certainly been an adventure, especially when mixed in with a divorce, but things are progressing nicely. Last night, my son and I wired lighting in the cabin. This evening, my fiancee and I are starting to install beds, makeup table(s), mirrors, etc. I'm hoping to have everything completed by this weekend, leaving me next week to take care of any last minute things. The past couple of months have been slow on bookings/tours but week after next we have 5 tours booked. It's been a very tough road but things are looking up. Thanks again for all the support and input I've gotten from this board.

Totally agree
