UGH I have to buy a new TV today.

I know this has nothing to do with DJing. I thought I had an issue with the cable company and why the TV stopped working. I went to play a DVD and tried to change the channel on the TV so I can get to the DVD player to play a DVD of the Golden Girls. So the channel wouldn't change and the TV screen shows 17 yellow lines on the screen. So I called the cable company to get the issue resolved. I did as I was told and that is turn the volume down on the TV instead of using the cable remote. Nothing. That was around 2:30 in the morning. They are sending me another remote only to find out when I called them back, nothing wrong with the cable TV. The issue is I was instructed to use the power button on the cable box to turn the box off and on. The lines were still there. The guy tells me the problem is with the TV.

The guy couldn't believe how calm I was when he told me the problem. I figured no need to curse the TV out, that won't make the TV start working the way it used to. I will be getting a new TV and I will be in need of a TV stand because the one I have won't work for the newer model TVs. Looking at getting a 40 inch TV. The thing that sucks is that I just bought a brand new laptop and now the TV is shot. The picture minus the lines on the screen is still great! It's a big back TV and I have had that TV for well over 15 years. So time to put it out to pasture. Not a good time right now with all that's going on. Thankfully I have the money to buy the items. I got the money together last night but the store was closed. For the TV looking to spend no more than $250 for the TV since the price of TVs has gone way down.

My point is I can complain about the problem and do nothing or look for a solution. The solution is to buy a new TV. Especially since I can't turn the TV off or lower the volume. I have to pause the DVR on a program so there's no sound. Now for the DJ side we've been asked are we ruined with the DJ business because of the situation we're in right now. I say what do you plan to do once things clear up? We know the problem. So going forward what's your solution to the problem once things get better which I believe it will?

Well Damn. Aren't you the MASTER PROBLEM SOLVER MIXY? You should really consider taking your talent to the corporate world.

Golden Girls, DVD player and a fat back tv. Welcome to 1995!!
Well let me say this first. I know some people who are stuck on having a HD TV with super high resolution. For me as long as I could see the picture and the TV worked, no problem for me. I'm not addicted to having the latest thing that comes out. For example some will buy the latest controller because it's the latest thing that has come out. I got the Denon DN MC MK2 controller and I LOVE it! I don't see the need to get the next latest controller that comes out because the one I have works like a charm. Now when it stops working I will get another one.

I'm a fan of comedy movies and shows. Especially old school shows like Mary Tyler Moore Show. Now one thing I didn't anticipate how difficult it would be to get a TV at a store now. Almost all the stores have 32 inch TVs and under. I want a TV that's at least 40 inches. I will try again early this morning. My plan is leaving the house around 6am.

...and the fact that there is an abnormal shortage of non-essential electronics providea some evidence into how wasteful this stimulus welfare truly is.

I understand that, but in the meantime you've probably been paying for HD channels that you're not even able to see.

P.S. I too am guilty of getting drawn into the inane vacuum of the DRAMACHO thread abbys. It's is akin to an accident on the highway...damn near impossible to NOT LOOK. May da Force be witcha!

Oh, I know how this works, but I figured anybody who's making payments on their free tablet from AT&T probably got suckered into the HD cable package even though they're watching on a 15-year old CRT TV.

HD? Far as I know everything‘s been HD at least 720p for as far as I can remember, 1080 is pretty old too. I brought my kids 43” 4K TVs with Roku for Xmas a couple of years ago, spend a little over $200. Phenomenal picture and with Roku they don’t even use cable anymore. TVs are dirt cheap but you still have to know what to buy. 4K is pretty much standard now except for the really really cheap stuff. You’re not really paying extra for it and there is a big visual difference. When we got our first 4K TV we had to turn it off when company came over because we couldn’t have a Conversation with staring at the screen and that was stuff which was Upconverted not true 4K. Netflix 4K and 4K Blu-Rays weren’t available yet.
