Traktor Pro 3... Anybody Upgrading?

Amazing features? Like what? I did try to use the Windows Test developement version, but couldn't - it was the exact opposite of "ultra stable".
I have to mirror this too though, while it was nice when it was working, it was far from stable.

It's been out for three years, since the beta.

It's all I use.
I think he meant the Windows Beta, which is more recent.

Well, I have no issues with Macs .. except price .. when they get a decent machine under $1500 I might give it a whirl.
How I feel to about them as well, they are on the pricey side, well, I take that back, I do have issues , mostly with the removing of ports forcing people to get their f****** dongles if they want to have more than one device plugged in at a time.

I don't understand this statement. You don't have to buy something from apple to have more usb ports. Current laptop offerings from Dell and others are limited on what ports you have available, just the same as Mac.

The current MB's 13's vary between 2 and 4 Thunderbolt ports, the 15's come with 4 Thunderbolt ports, and thats it, no headphone jack, no SD card reader, no HDMI out, no Ethernet ports, no USB ports,( duh, they are Apple, and dont use USB ) so FOR ME, I would have to get dongles to use a MB Pro , I currently have in use, the headphone jack, the SD card reader, the Ethernet Port and one USB port for my wireless mouse.

I am sure I can buy other Apple products that would allow me not have to buy dongles and everything could plug into the Thunderbolt ports.

That is one the biggest complaints I read about for the MB Pro is the lack of ports, and the touch bar, and the keyboard.

Apple uses usb the same as anyone else does. Looking at the specs for a new MBP, 13" .. you can get one with or without the touchbar. They have a built in headphone jack. They come with 2 OR 4 Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports. (3 or 5 ports total). There is no sd card reader. You can get an aftermarket usb-c hub from anywhere for the items you're looking for such as on amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/TOTU-Etherne...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VWQ16JN53932JY9FFM54

People want smaller and lighter devices, so Apple is building what the market is asking for. Kind of hard to put everything into something and have it small and light. Similarly, 'Windows' machines also ship with USB-C ports and many are also slimming the options down - because people want small and light. The new Dell XPS (performance line) 13" comes with 2 USB ports (one on each side), 1 sd card slot, 1 Thunderbolt (USB-C) slot and a headphone jack. 5 ports total. No ethernet, no video. Want more, you'll need to buy a hub. The new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 14" comes with 2 USB (one on each side), 2 Thunderbolt (USB-C), 1 headphone jack and 1 SD card slot. No ethernet, no video. Want more, you'll need a hub.

USB-C ports can be used for charging, hubs, video and other.

I don't really care if it's small and light .. honestly, slightly larger and heavier is better for readability and stability.

No need for a MB "Air" .. a MB slightly pudgy would be fine ...

I prefer the larger screens - so I would opt for the 15" with the 4 usb-c ports, which is bigger/pudgy. The point of that was that comparable Win machines, are on par with the amount and types of ports - not alot. Being in the IT realm, we get asked ALOT for lighter, smaller and faster machines (oxymoron). Once they use the 13" screens (Windows), they don't want them - but they still want the machines to be as small and as light (or lighter) as the 13" machines - and with every option known to man.

I was wrong, yes, there is a headphone jack, I assume that circle port was the charger port( PC thing, and silly me forgot that Apple used the Thunderbolt for charging). If were to of looked at the link below, I would of seen that they do come headphone jacks, but looked at the listing page and it only has the Thunder ports listed. I will admit, I was not 100% up to date on Thunderbolt/USB-C and that TB can be used in USB-C ports. I for the most part failed on my port rant, I will lower my head in shame now.

I will you give a A for Effort, or should that be a "E", anyways, I will stick with PC and having more port options than what Apple feels like we should have, I am still pretty pissed off I dont have a dedicated mic jack on my laptop, but I suppose I could get a USB adapter ( I never really used the mic jack that much, I have no real reason to be pissed about it, and really I am not, it just makes for good posting) But in 100% honesty, the lack of SD card slot and Ethernet are a deal breaker , so no Mac's for me, but see below for the "But"

I am with Steve here, I dont want small and light, I want slightly larger and heavier that is full of goodness. My old laptop was 15, my new one is 15 and that is the perfect size for me, when I was in between laptops for that week, I borrowed my moms, she has a 17incher, and that was just too big, but probably because I was so use to a 15 incher.

Now for the "But", if I were to use a MB Pro for the sole purpose of DJ'ing, I would have no issues using a MB Pro and have gone as far as to even considering thinking about maybe one day considering it.

The similar Windows machines also don't have ethernet, video and other ports - so I'm not sure what the issue is. SD card slots, ethernet and video are all moving to hubs if they're needed. Thunderbolt is Intel, not Apple (though it was designed in collaboration with Apple).

More port options? I showed you that Apple has up to 5 connections - while similar Windows machines had the same amount of connections. It is ok to say you just don't want an Apple - but that they're somehow lacking in the connections department is not accurate. They're giving you the same as other similar Windows devices are.

I DJ with 17" laptops, mainly so I can run large fonts in my DJ software and not have to wear reading glasses - basically, (try) to look less like an ol' geezer!

One has 4 USB ports, the other just two, which is still usually enough. If you're running a separate, dedicated sound card, and need extra USB ports, I can highly recommend this -

...which I actually use* . Sounds great (ASIO) and has a built-in powered USB hub, but you'll only find them used. I have also heard good things about Novation's AudioHub, which you can buy new - again, a sound card - powered USB hub combination.

*Vestax, who are out of business, never wrote 64 bit drivers for the internal sound card in the Typhoon controllers I use. So, on 64 bit apps, I just use them as MIDI controllers with the external Hercules Deejay Trim.

I also think a 17 is too big and imo, a 13 too small. I referred to the 13" specs because you were talking about the 13" MBP. The 17's also don't seem to have as many options and performance as the 15's do.

17” would be about the smallest I could go... Even with my 22” monitors, I still have to wear glasses. I’m pretty used to looking like an “ol’ geezer” though, ‘cause I’ve been one for a while now.[emoji1]

The good thing about the larger screen size is I can let Traktor run in a window while displaying text in an adjacent window. Even at partial screen, my Traktor window is about as large as a 15” laptop screen. This comes in REAL handy when making announcements and such, but I normally run Traktor full screen. Until recently, my Small System only had the single computer, so the 23.5” screen gave me that extra space to bring up other apps when necessary. Now that I have the Surface Pro running with it, the 23.5” screen size is probably unnecessary.[emoji4]
