Traktor Pro 3... Anybody Upgrading?

I’ve been using Traktor for 4 years. I’m comfortable with it, and it has been a solid, reliable application. Traktor 3 is out, and the upgrade is only $49. The new features are... well let’s just say they are not too enticing, nor has the look/interface changed much. I own two Traktor Pro 2 licenses, so upgrading both would only be $100. I’m undecided about upgrading...

Is anybody else planning to upgrade? If so, what’s your rationale?

I have a new computer coming tomorrow, so I’m thinking about loading it on that to try it out... or I can load it on my backup laptop. I’m looking at other software options too, because Traktor is NOT exactly leading the pack with the latest and most modern software features. It’s said that a total rewrite of Traktor is on the way... We’ll see???

I looked .. didn't seem that enticing (unless you do DVS since it's now included). I got an offer to buy the FULL package for $49 after I downloaded the demo .. then I got the upgrade offer for the same price ... I might have gone with the upgrade if it was a better deal than the full purchase again, but Nooo.

The thing about upgrading is; if I don’t like it, it’s a hassle to put it back the way it was. Yes... I could do an image backup first, but still a little bit of a hassle. So I think loading the full version of it on my new computer, and trying it out for a while might be the best way to go. Maybe I’ll see how it works with my DDJ-T1?

I am thinking about it. I have Traktor Pro and Scratch, so I already have the DVS side. But, the ability to use ANY hardware is interesting to me. I think I may install it on the old backup machine and test it in the 30 minute demo mode a little. Just to see if it is worth it. Originally, it was priced at $99 for the upgrade, I was a no then. Now, at $49, I am a maybe.......

I think upgrading or loading is the same thing for Traktor ... simply a marketing term they use.

If they hold true, it'll be at half price again for Black Friday (it has for the past 3 years).

We love the software but we are not the type of dj's to keep our channel faders all the way up, which is a requirement to use the segue (autoplay) function.

No thanks! We will keep using DJay Pro 2!

I own multiple software DJ apps. I'm inclined to focus on just one these days, but it would need to handle audio, video (just a little) and karaoke. My karaoke product of choice (JustKaraoke 2) is no longer supported and the company out of business. I own Traktor and Serato, but neither seem the best fit for me. I have DJay on my iPad, but it doesn't seem to support video or karaoke.

PCDJ Dex RE is fine, and does a passable job with karaoke, but I need to upgrade to the main version for video (and karaoke management) .. that's option 1. I have VDJ LE, but would need the full version to use with my Denons .. that's option 2.

I'm looking into UltraMixer... I don't need the Karaoke function, but it seems to be there. :djsmug:

I doubt I'll upgrade - I've got Traktor Pro 2, but for some reason, I never clicked with it and never gigged with it.

Cross DJ remains my favorite, but I think it is being killed off (by Mixvibes), so I'm gigging with Serato again. However, I've been playing a lot with Mixxx 2.2 Beta at home, and it's looking real, real good, and may become my first choice - I'll then put Serato back in second place, where it belongs.

Someday, probably due to competition from Rekordbox, they'll add a dedicated preview/prelisten feature to Serato. Also someday, pigs will fly!

Looks good, though at $200, I'm over the cost of PCDJ Dex and close to VDJ ...might try it. Also, can't find many reviews of it.

Well... They only price it SO high because, rumor has it, DJ's won't purchase anything unless it's OVERPRICED!!!
Only fools overpay for the same thing ..

I am very surprised that no one uses DJay Pro. Ultra stable and amazing features. Both Mac & PC versions.
Amazing features? Like what? I did try to use the Windows Test developement version, but couldn't - it was the exact opposite of "ultra stable".

Didn't seem to offer video or karaoke support.

I have it on the Surface Pro I use for a backup with my Small System. It’s a nice little system. There are features I rather like, but it’s not quite enough to get me to switch to it on all my DJ computers. I’ll stick with Traktor for now.

OK... Ya wanna hear (read) something really crazy??? The thing about Traktor that REALLY drives me nuts is... NO jog wheels on the display. I know... it’s craziness. I wouldn’t use them, even if they were displayed. I don’t use ANY of the controls on the screen. I wouldn’t likely ever use the controls on the screen if there was a touch screen interface, but there’s not. Displaying the jog wheels would only use up valuable screen space, but VDJ displays the jog wheels. The (Traktor) display screen just looks... like it’s missing something.
