Almost as loud as my CV's ;)

caught a youtube vid of some dj's channel and he was showing his setup for a school dance of 800 kids. He said what he brought really was only good up to 600, but he asked the kids after the dance and they all said the sound was great. It was a gym and he was in a corner of it next to the stage.

What did he have? 2 ekx-12 tops and one ekx 18 sub. Being in the corner looked like the tops were 8 or 10 feet apart at most.

Excuse me....that's good for a wedding of 300, at most.

I did a 440 kid dance in a gym, had 4 12" dxr tops and 2 eTx 18 subs and twice i had several kids ask me to turn it up. I was maxed on the subs and all i had left was to turn up the tops on the back of tops.
After the dance one custodian said OMG was that loud, I was literally shaking the second story floor in a classroom he was cleaning.

So...how the hell did he think he had enough sound?

Ahh, the 1972/3 Grateful Dead wall of sound.

You certainly can perform with 2 EKX12's and a sub, and it might be ok. You can sound better with more - and it won't work nearly as hard.

All rooms are not the equal. I work some venues that are smaller than others that need more watts, RMS speakers maybe subs than other rooms larger.
By the way. I love my EKX 12s & 18s
