This is what he got for $250.

This event was yesterday in Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. This was the event people on here said I should be the DJ, even though he only wanted to pay $250 for the DJ to do the event. You're to be there at 10am to setup and the event isn't over till 7:30 pm. 9 1/2 hours and he thought he could get me to do it for that price. My partner did it last year for that price and it was a mess for a reason. He wanted it to be that way so hye could get him to see if he wants better he needs to spend a little more money.

We were only asking for $50 more this year and he said he could get anybody to do it for that price. My understanding is he was supposed to have someone else do it but they backed out. That persons name was on the flyers. My guess is they backed out because of the low pay.

This event is the 11th year for this event. It's a memorial for him and his wife's son that died from cancer 2 days after his 12th birthday. It's a fund raiser that the city of Newark has fund set aside each year to put on this event. Others donate to this event. So he doesn't have to come out of his pocket to get it done. Unlike the lie he told yesterday.

So because he didn't want to spend a little more money he got what he got and it was a hot mess. The 2 DJs were good at mixiong music but the sound was a big mess. The speakers were all Yorkville. 2 of the 801p subs. Possibly non powered. The tops were definitely non powered. They had things screaming! The sound was distorted due to them pushing the speakers too hard. Which means they didn't have enough power for it to sound right. So they had to push the speakers beyond the point that they should have been pushed so that the sound was good and not too harsh.

At one point the highs in one of the tops cut out and in a few minutes came back on. I think they were having problems with the mixing board they were using. They had a nice rack with a QSC and Crown amp inside. Besides the speakers kept cutting in and out, they had the same issue with the mics. They kept cutting in and out. Just a plain mess. My partner stayed there for a few minuets and decided to walk home. I didn't get there till after 3 pm. I stayed there till the end.

You got to see one of the pictures I took of the wire coming out of the speaker and then you will understand why it was a hot mess. At the end the guy came up to me and here was his exact words. That was bull shit. Now he wanted to know how much for us to do it next year. We already discussed the price that we would do it for. It's worth much more then that but we're being fair with the guy since it is a fund raiser. I told him $350 and he quickly shook my hand. He didn't even hesitate because he knows with me being a part of it next year it will be tight to the right and not anything like the mess he got this year!

and he got paid and you didn't. AGAIN
Idiot I didn't want the job for the $250 he wanted to pay. I did it on purpose. It wasn't by accident. I knew what was going to happen and I was right.

It was about showing him if he wants things done right, he needs to stop being able cheap. As you know sometimes you have to say no to get what you want. Let me say it this way. We've been nice enough to him for this event. Now it was time to take a stand and mean it.

But you fought over $50, which is miniscule. You gambled is all you did. This could have turned out to be better than you could have ever done. In addition, you needed the money. Did you forget about what happened in Atlantic City?

There wasn't a fight over $50. He didn't want to pay the extra $50 and that ended the conversation. I didn't forget what happened in Atlantic City and I still wouldn't do it this year for the $250. I will survive. I not only didn't do it for the money. It was the level of disrespect he was showing me.

He knows me personally and decided to go cheap. I knew this was going to happen. I even bet my partner $50 that this was going to happen. He wouldn't take the bet. Good thing he didn't. Again I didn't want the job and you're out there for 9 1/2 hours and all the pay was $250. I've learned sometimes you have to take a stand and not make a decision based on your financial situation at that time.

I've learned a great leson over the years. We teach people how to treat us.

And this is coming from a guy that had to borrow $20 to get his van out of parking, and get some food. You should be taking every gig that comes your way bro. You ever hear of "nest egg" or "reserve cash"?

For 11:30 to 7 pm performance time, and arrival at 10am, My quote for that event would have been $2,100 minimum, and I would have never been hired to do it! ... For $250 I won't leave my driveway unless we are talking a 2 hour or less performance time on a Week Night that is local to my residence.

I'm surprised they found anybody to do that for $250.

I'm not surprised. I knew he would find somebody to do it for that price. Our first year we did it as a favor to him for $200. Yes you're right. That's a great price we gave him for next year. We know the guy and it's a fund raiser event.

Don't misuderstand me. I would have liked to have don't the event but the price wasn't right. Could I have done it myself. Sure! I could have done it the way some suggested and just use the powered tops to get the $250 from him but that would have not been the right way to do things. It would have been horrible sounding without a pair of subs. I didn't want to make me look bad.

Great, I'll go ahead and pencil you in for a purchase of $350 worth of crap you don't need in August of 2018. I look forward to the post![/QUOTE.
We will be using the 2 801p subs, 2 DSR tops, mixing board, at least 3 mics, probably 2 controllers and my EFX 500. That's it. If we pick up anything which I doubt we will would be wires, which I think we won't need to do.

Mix, I'm confused! The DJ played minuets? I wouldn't think classical would go over at an event like that. And who is this "Idiot I?" Is that a new member of Migos? He left-off ah bad and boujee?

A $50 difference is not deciding to go cheap. Again, you gambled (over a $50 difference). Also again, the funny part is that you needed the money. Sure, you will survive - but look at what happened to your finances - that money could have helped.
