I booked Sept 25 today for a 50th Birthday party that gives me 3/4 Saturdays booked in September plus all the Friday nights at the bar I also have 2 in October and 2022 is looking good I'm getting lots of inquiries. Hopefully this is the end of the nightmare

I hope you're right but I'm afraid we're about to see problems in the event industry due to covid.

I'm hoping too...In this area the numbers are down and it's looking good the vax numbers are high (76% one dose 67% both) and we are still wearing masks. Gatherings have some rules but most so far are falling in line with the rules grateful to be out again

The delta variant is a mean motor scooter. I'm back to almost all original CDC protocols. The booster should become available by the end of September, however it can only be administered to those who have completed their vaccinations 8 months prior to receiving the booster. I haven't seen any reports yet on eligibility beyond the time frame, e.g. comorbidity, age, etc.

I am trying to think of creative ways to keep folks away from me during all my upcoming events so I don't have to mask up, start to finish. Furthermore, I would be grateful for any suggestions my esteemed colleagues here might have.

Whatever you do stay safe Cap. What about a text for request or question number on a small sign?

Good luck on the last part. It’s very hard to prevent drunk guests from getting up close and personal... even when we were doing events at the height of the pandemic last fall and winter. Keep in mind there also need to be conversations not just with guests but with photogs and banquet hall captains or managers to ensure that everything flows right. Only option really is to have an assistant act as a buffer and handle the conversations... but they take the brunt of the risk then.

I was thinking of that but that just might create a wave of requests that otherwise might never be thought of.

I'm considering a jpg for my 60" video monitor asking to maintain a super safe distance, with all the politically correct jargon of course.

For those instances of need based coordination, I will mask up. I use the KN-95 quad layer masks. I'll use my white ones to honor the bride and alternate with a black one to honor the groom.

I wonder who might notice?

You CAN do more...It's just that you don't want to do it, but if you did you would stand out even more as a DJ! :)

You would be able to market yourself as 100% Covid Ready, and Safer than other DJs

Panic mode?

As many people who were murdered in the Twin Towers 911 attack, are dying everyday due to Covid.

Panic? No. Smart, caring, concerned, and vigilant? Yes.

The best way to avoid the unvaccinated uneducated Dodo birds (they are rapidly becoming extinct too) is keep away from crowds.

One must also consider potential law suits of a guest contracting Covid and suing the faculty and hosts for not taking adequate protection for the event. It won't be a family member; it'll be one of the "and Guest".
