I have an issue when using my main laptop. I use VDJ. I turn my laptop on and go into VDJ to start playing music. Lately what's happening is I will click it on and try playing a song and I get nothing. I close the program and open it up again. Then it works like a charm. Anybody know what could be causing this to happen? I can get it to work, just want to know why it doesn't work the first time clicking on VDJ?

No idea. Doesnot happen on your backup laptop?

I might try uninstalling and reinstalling program

Stop using your laptop for internet & playing games. I disconnect wifi right after I down load drivers

Instead of closing it and restarting, go into the audio options and make sure the right sound card configuration is selected. It might be looking for a controller (or whatever it was plugged into last). It won't play the song if there's no audio card present, so you'll have to select the correct current audio configuration in the options.

I used it yesterday and it worked the first time. Played a song and it played with no problem.

I'd be very worried using it at an actual gig...the potential problem popping up again would drive my slightly OCD mind crazy.
That's why you should carry backup gear. You never know when something will act up.

Put a little effort & cue up / play both decks.

That brings me to a question. How many of you have 2 laptops with you at an event you can use if one fails at an event?

Pioneer sz and pioneer srt1000, but there are others that accept two laptops at same time
Thanks sir. Both of those are great controllers. Another suggestion if you can't afford either of those controllers you can use a USB hub. I bought one.

No a usb hub will likely not work as it won’t be able to tel which is the primary laptop
It should work. Connect the line from the controller to the hub and both laptops to the hub. I apologize if I'm wrong. Next time I do an event I will see if I'm right.

Thanks for the 2 usb units on a controller. I never knew that. I need to look up the 2 controllers that Taso mentioned.
