As you have probably read TikTok was banned as of Midnight last night. Does it affect you? Will you miss it?

Trump is hard at work already.
We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive."

Yes I remember quite well his last year in office in his first term how he wanted Tik Tok gone, and said China was stealing American citizens information. He hated what it was doing to the kids too.

He reversed course AFTER he realized how many people he reached during the recent campaign on Tik Tok was. He believes it contributed to his win. So since it helped him out, it should stick around! LOL.

I don't use Tik Tok, but I do watch Facebook reels, and videos originating from Tik Tok pop up on there from time to time. I believe in free enterprise, and if they can verify that the app is being displayed legally then I don't think it should be banned. Parents who are worried about their kids do have the ability to restrict their phones/devices. Teenagers and young adults on the other hand...well if they become addicted to Tik Tok, it's their own fault. Outside of it being a terrible distraction if being watched while driving or operating heavy equipment, I don't see the addiction as any worse than being addicted to video games for example.

I heard that they switched up the servers, and now Tik Tok is being integrated with META/Facebook somehow. Not sure if that is just a rumor, or is actually happening due to the ban. Trump wants a lot of money funneling into the US Government from Tik Tok, so we will see how this plays out.

It's not (and never has been) the social app concept and it's popularity that Trump seeks to terminate - it's the PRC Government Control that he wants disconnected. Tik Tok is first and foremost a Communist Government propaganda and intelligence channel. They use it to spread their "Happiness is Socialism" campaign, and to monitor their subjects (Chinese Nationals) worldwide. The PRC controlled version of Tik Tok is an intelligence program and weapon masquerading as social media. We can't allow it to continue in the U.S. as a Chinese Government owned and operated entity.

Tik Tok in the U.S. needs to be a U.S. owned and operted entity subject to U.S. communication, data, and privacy laws. Revenue from Tik Tok in the U.S. also needs to stay in the U.S. economy and not be filtered through the communist PRC.

We are already at war with China. The enemy is within - this is not a gun fight.

Sounds like political "business as usual" to me.
