Welcome Oh HuHuu!

hi everyone! im 38,non verbal classic autistic, have mild intelectual disability, a rather agonising physical disability, epilepsy and brain injury caused by my epilepsy and god knows whatever esle. i got two amazing original numark TT100 direct drive, high torque decks back in late 1999-never used anything but concorde pro Ss on them with very little weight needed on the tone arm compared to the bog standard carts/styli you find on the entry level market.
my epilepsy has destroyed my short term and working memory so i have lost everything i learnd about working with studio DAWs and DJing, its so hard starting a new so i made a soundcloud thing hosting my mixes-at the moment more so i can see if im improving or not and the mix i did today (its a positive mixture of funky, afro or jackin house, also some electro in there for good measure) has made me happy for the first time-ive only made 5 mixes though.
i used to attend 'club nights' or 'discos' for adults with intelectual disability, and it always did my head in that the person flipping the hi fi on and off assumed we all want to listen to pop music and so many people at these club nights have never heard or been to a real club night to see DJs mix.ive been heavily into the dance scene since the late 80s-i used to do a spot of turntablism on my parents record player, lol.

i was offered a unpaid DJ job around 2002 working as a DJ for three major hospitals, it was awesome they had a full mixing desk, multiple 1200s and MP3 setup and wall to wall of accepted oldskool house and a couple of other genres,i was connected with them by a organisation who works with disabled people, unemployed people etc-under 25 only, and they let the stations know everything about me and my mum or sister who were taking me also helped them understand how to work with me. they thought i was very talented but after a few weeks i was suddenly rid of as they wanted a DJ who coud speak-woudnt get away with that anymore somehow, lol.sadly (for me) i never DJed again, i was moved into institutional/residential care around 2007 ,although ive still got my equipment. ive only just started back DJing in the past two weeks or so.i use a gaming laptop with a ryzen 7 4000 series CPU and 32GB of kingston fury sodimm RAM, and i use Mixxx for DJing-not because its free but because its a clean simple design- i wish the rotaries were a lot bigger though.i use sennheiser HD25 70 'on ear' headphones but one of its cables is a bit dodgy- i shoud have a decent pair of mackie 'in ear' monitor headphones arriving tomorow,id also ordered FL2020, i used to use it in the early days, loved the UI.

one side effect i will tell you of,the damage from my epilepsy leads me to waffle on way to much without me realising in the moment, if it gets on anyones nerves please just tell me, cheers!
i am just so glad to be on a DJ forum again.

Welcome Wheelie! I can get on people’s nerves with my opinions😁 I do try to be nice, but I’m not perfect. I just look that way😁

HI thanks for acceptance to the forum.
Owned 1210s approx 20 years ago and sold of most of my equipment when kids came along. I've just purchased a denon prime 4,which should arrive in next day or 2. I've never used dj controllers before but my eldest daughter wanted to give it a try. So I had the perfect excuse for my wife. Looking forward to learning all over again but most of all having my kids getting involved in the music.
I live in Scotland, UK. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Very cool reason to get back into it. What type of music is she into?

Hello everyone!

I'm Jeff. I recently retired from almost 40 years in network radio with an events-audio and recording studio side business. Now I'm building my audio business full time. DJing was always a fun part of providing audio for concerts and I'd get to do it for weddings here and there. I found I enjoyed it so now I'm making it a focus. I'm very comfortable on the audio piece, but trying to discern direction on lighting, trusses, software, controllers, etc. I hope to learn a lot from the pros here!

Thanks for accepting me into the forum!
