You suggest I buy a new laptop. Both laptops are fine. What you didn't suggest is where the money is going to come from to buy it and you don't pay my bills.
If you are as great if a DJ as you claim to be you should be able to charge a decent rate for gigs and have multiple gigs per week. Based on what you claim your talent level is it should be easy for you to make $500 per week DJing, that’s $2000 every month plus your retirement and social security, it should be easy for you to buy a new $400-$600 laptop which is all you need to DJ with, as long as you make smart choice with how you set up you household budget,
I am only making these statements based on information you have provided over you years on this forum,

I'm suggesting that the fact your DJ income cannot afford to buy essential equipment like a laptop when needed after 30 years in the business should be a HUGE red flag that something you are doing isn't working.

Why on earth would you buy new wireless mics that weren't essential when you don't have the money to get a new computer if and when needed? Everyone should know they'll eventually need a new computer.

If I couldn't afford to buy a computer, I'd use an old wired mic before I'd buy any wireless mic.

If you really don't believe you need a new computer, dont get one. But my God, set a goal to SAVE $500 so you have it when needed.

... This sounds like a Soap Opera.

Mix is a hobbyist & for entertainment proposes which I can understand. I have more hobbies than I need from my wifes observation. :djsmug:
You have figured Mixxy out! One after the other. For all the junk he has bought or wrong priority items Mix could have updated to a newer more reliable laptop.

But that's in they are not fine there was a problem that WILL occur again. Honestly I wouldn't run out and buy a new laptop I woud have the problem diagnosed first by someone reputable it could be something simple

The suggestion for where the money is going to come from has been given to you countless times, by many folks here and from other sites - it's called a Business Plan.

Well, we know how that turned out with the gas pedal and oil leak.....I see a pattern here.....:sqO.o:

That's why I added reputable ;)

I'm doing a job on Friday and will report back about the wireless mics. So far so good. Let me ask this question here. For those who use a wireless mic at events, what do you use and why?

Last few years I have used electro voice. Have five units on hand at the moment . ER2 Body packs for ceremony , hand held for reception or other events.
My hard wired backup is the shure 58. Comes in handy for a self defense item.

I have sennheiser ew G3’s and G4’s. Also some sennheiser D1 digitals.

I like staying with one brand/model as much as possible so parts can be more interchangeable

wired mics are mostly sennheiser 835’s

I had a great time on Friday. I did an event for a Christmas party with the seniors in Montclair. Set the mics up properly and no issues. I called my friend later that day and he told me he got some phone calls about the job I did. I nailed it.

A guy came up to me with some Christmas CDS and I left them there. I just used my phone and played some songs from there.

Some Christmas songs I played were Charles Brown Merry Christmas Baby, Drofters White Christmas and the Temptation Silent Night. Another song I played from YouTube was Lisa Fischer How Can I Ease The Pain.

Besides a lady there that when she was talking I offered her the mic snapped at me saying she didn't need to use a mic, things went very well.

That laptop is doing fine. No need for another laptop. Just a quirky thing that happened that one time.
