I took some pictures from yesterday's event in the park with my phone and can't load the pictures on to my PC. Some of the pictures are from the setup some guys brought in to celebrate my friends birthday celebration at the Handball Court in the park. His gear got caught in the rain on Thursday night at Washington Park in Downtown Newark, NJ. So some freinds brought in their system. I was told that he wanted them to bring everything they have. They decided to not do that. What they did bring was AWESOME! 6 JBL subs and 4 tops. The guy told me they have 10 JBL subs and 12 tops.

I mention this because they are the guys the organizer for Saturday's event was looking to have come in to enhance what we have. What we have is very nice. We could bring everything we have and we couldn't compete with the stuff they brought in the park. Never mind the other stuff they didn't bring. To power everything they had 2 QSC 4050 amps and one Crown amp. Too bad for some reason I can't get the pictures to come off my phone to my PC so all can see what we're talking about.

The guys decided to not help this guys event out once they found out how he operates. He claimed he doesn't have any money. So the plan was to get them to bring some gear for free. They decided no way! What was really wild is once they found out it was us who are doing the event he told me he wasn't looking to take away the event from us. He was actually surprised when he saw it was me helping out with the event. I was surprised when I found out it was these guys he was trying to run a game on.

Others here didn't understand my concern as to who he was planning to get enhance what we had. I was concerned because of the disaster he got almost 3 years ago. He tells my partner to forget about calling those guys and now I know the reason why. The deal with them fell through. I told the guy his aim was to try to either get us to bring more and not pay us more or have them to do it next year for the price we're doing it for or for less. I already know that wasn't going to happen. The guy is supposed to bring the money he is to pay us on Tuesday to my partners house. I told my partner I wasn't betting my mothers life on him showing up with thoney on Tuesday. Not worried about him paying us if it's on Tuesday or the day of the event. Just wanted to let others know how slim shady likes to conduct business. We agreed to do it this year so we will do it. We will see how things go this year and decide on next year. My plan is a price increase for our services for the same thing we plan on bringing this year. Not a big increase. A small one because we're doing a big favor doing this event for the price we're doing it for. A friend of mine said he wouldn't do it for the price we're charging him. If he wants us to bring even more next year there will be a decent size price increase in what we provide.

Simply put we can't keep giving him more for the same price we're charging him now and we certainly can't go any lower. I understand it's a community charity event in honor of their son. That's fine but we can't do what he wants which is either do the event for a cheaper price or for free. That's really what he wants us to do it for. The only person I could do this event for free is my best friend and that's because he was nice enough to let me store my first setup coming back in his basement for nothing and we've been friends for 51 years. We met in the 4th grade. He was 9 and I was 10. He's my hero even though he looks at me being his hero because I was able to keep my job for over 30 years. I had to keep my job because he wasn't going to take care of me. He had a wife and 3 kids to take care of. LOL. So that's it for now. Just got to remember to bring my camera on Saturday to make a gig report of the event this year. Hopefully I can get the pictures from my phone to post on here of the event yesterday. I know my partner would know how.

THE FIVE ELEMENTS OF EVERY MIXMASTER POST

1. THE CLIENT IS ALWAYS SHADY
2. THE PRICE IS ALWAYS A FAVOR BUT GOD AS HIS WITNESS...NEXT YEAR THINGS ARE GONNA BE DIFFERENT
3. MACHO MAN IS ALWAYS THE SMARTEST GUY IN THE ROOM/YARD
4. SOMEONE ALWAYS TELLS MACHO HOW GREAT HE IS.
5. IT ALWAYS GOES OFF INTO A TANGENT SO FAR OFF THE ORIGINAL TOPIC THAT YOU NEED A MAP TO GET BACK

Do you know any 3 year olds who can show you how to get the pictures off your phone? or better yet...post them on here directly from your phone. how on earth do you hope to promote your business in 2019 with this sort of incompetence?

Sir I will be kind here. First off you're dead wrong. I have had some great clients to work for in the past. This person is just someone that after a while everybody who works for him finds out the kind of person he is.

For example the guy guy last year cooking the food cooked the food for 7 hours. He told me at the end he gave him 50 0ne dollar bills. Now that's sad. The guy said he had $600 in his pocket and told him this.

The big thing dealing with us was for me I was worried about who he was going to get to enhance what we have. I was afraid it was going to be guys like he got almost 3 years ago.

As it turns out the people he was planning on to be honest have better stuff than we do. What we have is very nice but can't even come close to what they have. What they have if they used everything could do a festival. And I do mean a nice size one.

I made a joke out of things. I said I was leaving to go home and get my gun. Come back and Jack them for everything. My partner said all that stuff won't fit in my van. I told him there are 2 trucks here. That's a joke because I don't own a gun and never have.

If you are a vendor going to a fundraiser and you know that you're donating items (OR you agreed on a price), then it doesn't matter how much the person does or does not have. If you think they're shady, then you do not deal with them again. Plain and simple. You keep going back thinking you will change this person. You will not. Regardless, it's a fundraiser for cancer - not for you. Either participate and stop fussing - or don't and stop fussing.

The issue is he would like us to bring in even more stuff. Yet doesn't want to pay more money for this. That's the big thing. Sure I would like to bring in more since it's a wide open space and it would even sound better to impress the people attending the event. That won't happen until he agrees to pay us a bit more.

We can do it but if all he wants to pay is $350 then he can only look for us to provide but so much. I made sure it's good enough so we don't look bad because the people attending the event don't know what we're getting paid. So we bring just enough not to make us look bad.

SO .. DON'T .. GO .. What he would "like" isn't material. Just say "I am booked that day" and stop with the obsessing.

What Steve said - which you've heard over and over and over ... yet you continue to stay involved in. You are the creator of your own drama.

Obviously, that it is the ONE thing that you DON'T understand!
I get that but let me say this. The City of Newark pays for this event to happen. They have a fund set aside for this event to take place. Also he gets donations from other businesses including Beth Israel Medical Center. So he doesn't come out of his pocket to pay for anything.

Now onto the gear we provide him for the event. 2 Yamaha DSR tops, 2 double 15's, 2 Yorkville 801p subs, Mackie Thumps for the people performing, dual wireless microphones, one corded microphone I keep with me and our 2 setups which include a mixing board. Also we need a monitor for us. He gets all of that to do the event with for $350. So the way we feel is he should stop trying to cut corners and just pay us. Nobody else I know would do this event for that price. I was considering next year making the price $400 for the same thing. It's a lot of work that day. So much so that when we finish we're going to both just pass out once we get in bed.

Again, it DOES NOT MATTER who pays for it. None of this is your concern. Either show up for an agreed amount or don't. They don't need you, you need them. If you want money from the City of Newark, then you need to find another way to get it. I can almost guarantee that they will want a W9 to show they've paid you. Heaven help you if you don't file taxes on it. There are plenty of similar fundraisers around the country where plenty of people donate 100% of their time and services, in addition to other fund streams, including Government, businesses and citizens. These funds usually go towards helping other cancer victims with their issues, like medical expenses, etc. I pray that you never become a cancer victim and need assistance from the very people you are trying to hold over a barrel.

I think you should raise your price to $14,000.00. That'll solve this problem real quick. :)

Every dollar and cent that he DOES NOT pay you, goes to the charity kitty. Whether it comes from HIS pocket doesn't matter .. as a fund-raiser, the goal is to MAXIMIZE the donations, not to pay the most for a DJ.

Some event managers will pay much more for talent IF THEY BELIEVE IT WILL HELP BRING IN MORE MONEY !! It seems apparent to us, that the guy DOES NOT believe paying you more will help in that regard.

Is this a different kid than the last time when you got called out online for talking about the cheap event host? Or is this a new one?

I beg you, please, RUN, RUN AWAY...
