Like I said we have more but unless he's willing to pay more this is all he gets.

If you are so concerned about your system, and how you represent your brand then you should only do your events one way.

COME CORRECT, OR DON'T COME AT ALL.

Your so busy trying to squeeze someone for an extra 50 or so bucks for an extra set of speakers when that shit is just sitting in the van, in the parking lot of the gig. If your use to your stuff sounding a certain kind of way, whip it out, let your buddy hook it up(you don't know how), and just jam out.

I just thought of this. What he was trying to do was to try to get us to compete agains the other guys for the job next year. He was hoping he could get those guys to do it for the same price we're doing it for this year. If they say no then try to get us to cut our price. The guy told me for that price he would get 2 tops and 2 subs. m That's it. Like I said we can't compete with them. What we have is nice but no where near as good as what they have. I can't tell that lie. It took time over the years to get him to pay this much. So why would we go down in our price using the same gear doing the same amount of work?

I didn't say anything about trying to get him to spend $50 more for us to offer more sir. No extra speakers will be left in the van. I said I was thinking of a small price increase for next year using the same amount of gear. What's wrong with that? I certainly know the job is worth much more then $400 all the work involved. I'm talking about having to pick my partner at 6am to go to the storage to get some stuff we need. Then come back to his house to get some more gear and then my house for the rest. Then get to the park to setup. All this has to be up and running before 11am. Then shutdown at 7:30. Load the van up and leave the park to take all the stuff back to where it belongs. Don't you think that's a lot for a days event? My guess is we won't get home till after 10pm putting all the stuff away.

Loading your equipment to and from various places is not your customers problem or issue. See Steve's response.

You decide to store your equipment at multiple locations. That’s a “your problem”, not a “his problem”.

Hey Mix friendly suggestion doc, look into getting a storage big enough for all the gear? That way you wouldn't have to make the multiple trips. I couldn't imagine having to do that I am lucky enough to have a dedicated truck and trailer that stays loaded all the time. Maybe buying a cash car daily driver and keeping your van loaded locked in storage unit? Just making a friendly helpful suggestion. I am sure you have your reasoning for doing what you are doing.

Thanks but if we found one it would cost to much. That's why I found the one I have now because the other one was too expensive. Almost $200 a month. This storage unit is accessible 24 hours 7 days a week.

Can't keep the van loaded due to the someone broke into the van and stole a bunch of stuff. I used to keep stuff in the basement but it was a pain getting stuff upstairs and the old landlord didn't want the gear down there.. i can look into a bigger space where I'm at to see what that would cost.. I will do that when we go there today.

As with multiple threads, this is on you for not setting the customer's expectations. When customers ask me for anything more than what was originally agreed, they are kindly told how much more it will cost. After agreeing, they sign a new contract. If they don't agree, nothing changes. Really simple. How much money they or anyone else has doesn't factor in.

You are responsible for how people treat you. If you act irresponsibly, they will treat you like that. If you act like a fool, they will treat you as such. If you act professionally, they will treat you like that, as they will know that if they don't, you will walk away. But you never walk away. You dive right into the drama.

For most here, customers know that asking for something more is going to cost more because we've established value early on. But if they just see you as some dude with equipment that doesn't really have a business, of course they will want stuff for free

He never came out and directly asked. He implied in a sneaky way this is what he would like. I've known him a long time and I know how he like to operate. Without saying it he would like more. We just know in his mind the price should remain the same.

I can only add, from the poem "Jabberwocky" in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass:
"Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

P.S. Always shun the frumious Bandersnatch, in any of its forms as it is rivaled in viciousness only by the tenacity of the Rabbit of Caerbannog which has "a vicious streak a mile wide!," according to Tim.

Again Itigger you missed my point. We agreed on a price. After that he wanted to try to suggest without saying it he would like us to bring more. Unless he's willing to pay more then he won't get any more then what we're offering him now.

So he didn't ask for anything different than agreed upon but you have a thread 3 pages long discussing how cheap and awful he is as a fundraiser organizer because he at some point mentioned a possible vision for the future.

Got it.

You do know most people would reply with "we can make that happen, would you like to see if we can make those changes this year? Maybe we should sit down and discuss what additional services we can provide and what it would cost to bring to your event." Or maybe, "Oh that would be great, maybe you could find a corporate sponsor to cover the additional costs so it doesn't come out of your fundraising account!?"

Next time I need to shut the funk up. He came today and paid us $400. He told us he knew he messed up getting those other guys to do it. He knows he can't get anybody else as good as us to do it for the price we charge him.

Well that's cause you charge peanuts lol but yet you keep saying you want better paying crowds. You're still making less than my assistants lol.

The day we stop learning new things is the day we are no longer living. I am glad you got a positive outcome on this doc. Maybe the guy is changing for the better. Its always good to feel appreciated. I definitely like that feeling after putting effort into something. I know you are going to knock this event out the park! Good luck doc! be sure to post pics! I got a big one coming up this weekend also at an Arena in Hot Springs here in Arkansas.
