It USED to be that way.
Now, the liquor laws are enforced more than ever, so Thanksgiving Eve isn't the "party" it used to be.
Kinda like New Years Eve...

I can understand that for sure...

I still have friends who own clubs and for them it was better than ever...so i guess its regional... for me...im happy at home...reading Macho man posts...

I've always heard it's such a hot night... but I've gigged several Thanksgiving Eve's and never had one that was really busy. I think people go to bars to catch up more than they go to venues with a DJ to dance.

The busiest nights in the local bars I play are in order 1 Halloween, 2 thanksgiving eve, 3 New Year’s Eve.

I thinks this is fairly small town specific, the kinda place where only 1 or 2 bars have anything going on that night, it really does turn into a reunion of sorts

Thanksgiving eve is the biggest club night of the year cuz everyone comes home, especially the college kids. Also those that don’t go out normally, may go out with friends they haven’t seen in a while who are visiting family for the weekend. Add that virtually no one works the next day, in a large metro area all clubs do VERY well... but it’s more of a club atmosphere here than a small local bar.

I Always wished to experience a small town atmosphere such as this one depicted in the video...obviously it’s a humorous video but still something that just doesn’t exist where I’m from. Just something I’ve been curious about.

I helped bartend in a Italian Restaurant night before Thanksgiving years ago. Bar area was packed. No entertainment. Just 2 TVs with dumb sports on. That was 2004. I probably made $150 that night. The bar had 14 seats at the bar, and 5 high bar tops with 2 or 3 seats at each one. Our clientelle were about 50% well to do jewish living in local neighborhoods. It was near Potomac, MD so our clientele was middle to upper class.

Back then it was considered the biggest bar night. I do not believe it is any more. I drove past a few local bars down the street from me. Maybe 12 cars parked outside at best at both bars.

Offof 404 on the way to the Delaware beaches or Ocean CIty, MD there is what I consider a true hometown bar. It is literally, and likely the only bar around for like 8+ miles. It is on the side of the high way with a gravel parking lot

Every time I drive past it headed up that way there are at least 20 or more cars parked outside. It has to be the hometown bar for that area.

...I know some "home town" bar places that attract locals, here...they have $150 or less a night DJs from time to time...

This picture sums up the clientele perfectly!
