Has anyone refurbished any cabinets using one of the variety of texture coat or bed-liner type finishes ?

I have a pair of Klipsh KSM-15 monitors that were originally a black finish, then got covered with gray carpet, and now I'm thing I'd like to do them over in a durable black coating. Some descriptions sound like they are kind or rubbery, but I'd like something hard and durable - more like bed liner.

I used Duratex once .. works great ...

I used a spray can of Truck Bed liner on my old JBL's.
Each can was $8.00, and I used a can on each speaker.

Duratex all the way! The finish the provided roller gives is great... but if you need something specific in your rolller for the finish im sure its out there.

What does Duratex feel like? I've heard it's texture is like rubber ?
Does dust cling to it, scuff easily, etc. ?

I've seen and felt Jeeps ad other surfaces done with sprayed bed liner and it has a hard coat finish. Does that also hold true when applied to wood ?

I'd also prefer an eggshell like finish rather than flat - does Duratex appear as a flat black ?

Duratex has a very slight sheen and a hard finish. It feels like a painted surface, but slightly textured. Mine didn't feel like rubber .. that would be bedliner.

If I'm not mistaken, the duratex is what a lot of speakers use from the factory. My I patched up a couple of my rcf subwoofers with this and you literally cannot tell the difference when side by side.

I used a bubble roller for the second coat of Duratex then after an hour or so of drying I scraped the peaks and spikes off with a plastic scraper by pulling back evenly across them,
Turned out great with awesome "flaw" coverage ;) 1608061932862.png

My JBL TR125's came with a very textured surface.
So the bed-liner simply covered it, keeping the original feel.
The spray I bought was not "rubbery" at all.
