If you want to be different ...

My question is why did Technics stop making CD players to DJ with and then branch over to controllers?

My question is why did Technics stop making CD players to DJ with and then branch over to controllers?

Because there's very little profit to be made manufacturing DJ equipment, the market is already owned by Pioneer, and Panasonic has bigger things happening (batteries, in conjunction with Tesla). Technics was never a DJ-specific brand; they just happened to make a turntable that became popular with DJs.

Why did Ford stop making the Model T and branch over to F150's? Not many left using CD's anymore

My question is why did Technics stop making CD players to DJ with and then branch over to controllers?

Because very few DJs are using CDs to DJ with today. Aside from a few folks on this board, I don't know a single DJ locally that carries CDs around anymore.

If money or space in my home were no object, I'd want a pair of those.

I'm not talking about somebody using CD's and don't forget time coded CD's to use to controller a software program using a computer. Remember that? I'm talking about branching into the controller market. So what if there's a bunch of other companies making them. Just make a top notch controller or 2 that will be high end and impressive to have somebody say I must have that. Just like what your aim should be and that is convincing a potential client that they don't need to look anymore. You're the DJ they want to book to do their event end of story.

Just so you know my friend was still using CD's to DJ with this year before I got to show him how easy and much better it is to use a controller, portable HD, laptop and hookup to speakers so he no longer needs to carry CD books any more. He was just like. I hesitated till how found out how easy it is to do and much better doing it this way now.

I guess you think it's easy to make a 'top notch' product and have or make people buy it. I have another business idea for you - open a DJ controller business and make 'top notch' equipment and make people buy it. No, no one here will give you any money to do it - you seem to think it's easy, so do it.

It's different, not my cup 'o tea, but this is gorgeous:

I'd take the latter one over the Red Bull model.
The Red Bull model looks butt ugly to me. It also appears fake - not up to the original quality,.

Truth is, I still prefer the standard silver SL1200 MK2 over everything that came after.

What did I miss? When did Technics make controllers? I know that they made the Sl-DZ1200 which is a standalone cd player similar to a cdj. It was pretty much a flop, however they seem to be getting some new found love with people modding them for current use.

Roland's trying, but (almost) nobody's buying.

I did not see that coming.

I won't say it's easy. I just know Technics has been around before I got into the business in 81. So it looks like someone at the company should have suggested it since they made those DJ CD players to look a lot like the 1200's. I was just wondering why they didn't go in deeper since the original 1200's became a thing of the past (which I had a pair).
