DMX Sushi DMX - Light rider

What's the difference?
AFAIK same software, same vendor, just a different label on it.

And I would bet a valuable body part that the dB (program you create) would work in both - just have to move it to the right directory.

Yes, but my intention was to use the ADJ version, and if I set up everything in LightRider, there is no current way to move the programming to myDMX Go.

Interesting video above. In the MyDMX GO app on Android, Light Rider's "Roll" control is replaced by an "Iris" control. Does anyone know which fixture properties are mapped to these controls?

The roll vs iris is a setting in the "Settings" tab of the main menu

He doesn't say jack about the dekker. Which looks like my mini kinta - and I 'read' from this that I'll need to create a custom profile and map the motor to the moving side of things.

As it is now the light does nothing...so I go into the fixture's DMX controls and set up color/roation/speed for a preset (say all blue and slow, or all white and slow, or all colors and fast for slow/first/fast dance presets). this works well.

I've not had a chance to try my moving heads or UV bars yet... t Had to shoot a softball league today so that has kept me busy and there are makups in the studio this week so not till next week can i setup the lights and play more.

i dont own these fixtures...but some cool shortcuts are mentioned in here that might apply to similar fixtures

To be honest...this thing is at its optimum of simplicity of ease when its controlling moving heads and pars/light bars... i actually shelved my other effects lights and streamlined my lighting set up to 2 movers ...4 chauvet wash fx (wonderful pixel mapping via the mydmx go) and some uplights

its seamless control

I didn't find that setting in MyDMX GO, version 1.0.0-40. But here's another oddity - I have both MyDMX GO and Light Rider installed on my Android tablet. When I launch MyDMX GO, it goes straight to the main screen. When I launch Light Rider, it first asks me to log into my LR Cloud Account. If I skip the login, it takes me to the Light Rider main screen, but it otherwise operates exactly the same as MyDMX GO, and it has the latest versions of the MyDMX GO projects I saved. Light Rider won't, however, let me connect to the MyDMX GO interface, because I haven't logged into my Cloud Account, which is impossible since my tablet is connected via wifi to the MyDMX GO interface...

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion.

So now I have to buy other/defferent lights or take my movers out more often (they're heavy and being cheap won't likely take a lot of use/travel...)

We'll see...for my DMX for weddings and most parties I have a four play and a kinta and kinta fx..not much to setup, not much to program - I did a couple of slow dances (all blue, mutli color, white), fast dances (2 programs and sound active) and that's it. Bigger venues I'll bring the acrobat.

I recently did a lot more for school dances - moving heads, UV, pars added.

I may use the pars more. I havent' tried the fourplay on the LR app yet to see what it does.

the Wash FX look interesting.

I believe you log in with the tablet connected to the net .. download programs and fixtures and otherwise "sync". Then I kill the app completely, connect to the myDMX Go and restart the app. I've had some issues if I don't kill the app and just connect .. sometimes it takes a while to get connected again. Pretty quick if I close the app first.

the account is optional. i've tried making one a few times, it sends an email you need to click, but always arrives hours later and the link is expired.

i just got the profile builder app and it requires a log in...gonna see how that works after dinner.

What version does Settings report in your Light Rider/MyDMX Go app? Is it iOS or Android?
iOS .. LR v 1.01.2 and MDG v 1.03 (which is strange since it's listed as 1.02 in the app store and no update shows in the past week+)

ADJ needs to get out in front of this thing fast....what a mess....message i got on a couple month old instagram post... 36714

Sooo ... an updated, updated LightRider app dropped this morning .. and still no MyDMX Go app ... smh.

They must have royally screwed something up. I gave up checking for updates 2 days ago. If I was James, I would be in the Dev's face about it .. DAILY - being that I'm the 'face' on their support page. I don't know if he is or isn't in their face daily, but they would definitely hear the dissatisfaction from the emails, forums and fb page. This is Day 8 from when they found the issue and released a fix - allegedly 24-48 hrs later, we would have it.

It just doesn't make sense. Same company wrote both pieces of code. LightRider was able to update last week and again today. Not sure what rules the myDMX Go app broke, but something wasn't done properly.

I'd like to say I'm surprised .. but I'm not. I experienced the same sorta feeling when I started buying lighting. I returned 4 brand new ADJ scanners for cracked, loose or broken mirrors or motors .. and 2 of the 4 replacement ones had non working electronics. Kinda takes the wind out of your sail after awhile. Their customer support is REALLY lacking (though James appears to be doing what he can to keep it positive).

After Day 4, they should have taken to their social media, email and forums and been open and honest .. and maybe even give back a little to all the people affected. Instead, it's just James spilling the same story - 'it's Apple's fault'. Maybe it is Apple's fault, but own up to it - because the issues were ADJ's in the first place - and allegedly, they were known previous to the release of the affected pieces.

ADJ support is now allegedly openly telling their customers to use Light Rider. Kinda like sending your business to another store. I hope you don't want them to come back. Most users are NOT going to re-setup their lights for use with another app if they have it already done in LR - so if you're telling them to use LR, then you've already lost them in a sense. If Light Rider is the answer, then get rid of the myDMX GO app. There is NO NEED for two of the exact same pieces of software - especially if Nicolaudie can do what ADJ cannot - publish and update their apps!

I wonder who will support the user when LR doesn't work? Will ADJ gladly support it or will they be sending it on to Nicolaudie? I see more troubles for ADJ down the road.

In the open and competitive market, I hope Chauvet takes note of what's going on and steps up with a winner.

Day 9 - and still nothing. I think by Day 9, Apple would have gotten back to ADJ with what the issues were. I highly doubt that ADJ would leave it in limbo this long. Why isn't ADJ saying anything to us?

I wish they'd say .. "Here's what went wrong and here's what we're doing" .. or .. "We've decided to just go with LightRider" ..
