So I had the day off work today so I looked through facades online found some I liked, drew out some plans and headed off to lowes. I got the two middle portions down, all thats left is to do the side, get some paint and some spandex. So far they've turned out pretty good, I may decide to make them for some members if there is any interest.

Good chopping it up with you today John. Can't wait to see your facade!

@houston... if I used those bars it would cost me roughly $112 to build the facade. I can get that same thing done for about $22 cheaper by a professional;).

The framer bars are great - but too heavy for larger facades. I have built a few of these and would suggest just a couple things: find some cheap shimmering polyester rather than lycra or spandex (costs way, way, less and still looks great - and easier on the wallet when you replace it because of drinks or mold getting on it), use real hinges (long strap hinges) when connecting and have it all fold up accordian style - don't try to do two pieces and hook it together - ends up being a pain and some drunk will tear it apart by accident, spend a few extra bucks and get some metal straps and re-inforce all of your joints, prime your wood before painting. Do all this and you will be a happy DJ. I am not trying to tell anyone what to do - good on ye for building your own - I just have learned what NOT to do.

Hope this helps...

Do a search for framer bars and you will find cheaper. I know, because that is my other business, Art Framing Installation. The framing bars joint makes for a more rigid facade. The wood is light!

Something like this? How strong and reliable are these?
They are light. The one at Amazon is Retail Price, when I buy I pay wholesale or have a Wholesale Vendor Framer build what I need. They are indeed very strong and reliable. Stretcher Strip dimensions are 3/4 deep by 1 5/8 wide which is strong enough to support frames up to 60 with bracing.
Apply Framers glue in the joints and join with a V Nailer.
