10-12 years ago I would have purchased this in a heart beat if I could have found it for $130 back then. I use to rent a 400 watt bulky black light from a production company when I did black light themed parties. The rental cost was $84 back then.

The bulbs for these used to be way more expensive, which is why the fixtures were also more expensive. Even though the product description says it uses a metal halide bulb, I'm pretty sure those specs have changed and it now uses a halogen bulb, which has about 1/4 the brightness. Those older ones were built like tanks though.

The issue with these is the lamp. It pulls a lot of juice, gets hot, and if you don’t have a backup lamp you lose 50 % of your coverage if you only have two of them. I went with a system using Led UVs, The new fluorescent UV’s and the older blacklight UVs from back in the day. I remember way back they had that wildfire black light which was incredibly bright but very pricey. Just one could light a gym. But at that price, you could buy a bunch of them.
