Since EDM is dead, there will never be any more good, soon to be famous dj's.........only good soon to be famous entertainers.

Seriously - Sirius Radio's channel 13 "Pittbull Globalization" has bee showcasing DJ's (mostly from the Los Angeles area ?). Some are doing really good work!

EDM isn't dead .. just going through one of its metamorphic stages again .. look at Trap crossing over to Country.

Country +Trap = Crap.
Sort of in line with "Opinions are like a-holes .. everyone has one". I actually like it .. much better than "Bro Country" (IMO) ..

One of my buddies from DC was on that show: Puro Pari Mix - July 2017 - Sirius XM Globalization - DJ Trayze - (https://www.mixcloud.com/djtrayze/puro-pari-mix-july-2017-sirius-xm-globalization/)

I never heard it live on the air, but I think he looped the instrumental in the beginning to let the on-air DJ talk over it.

Cool. Do know if these sets are created beforehand, or is any of this actually done live?

i think the lions share are prerecorded....possibly a big name dj might go live from time to time...but i know multiple dj's who did mixes for shade45 and always submitted ahead of time

I don't know for sure, but my bet would be on recorded before and submitted. I doubt all of the DJs are traveling to the station.

He did the Sway in the Morning show on Shade 45, and that was live. But that included some air time and talking, etc.

Gotcha. Obviously my reason for asking - we all know there is a HUGE difference between the two! Certainly a lot less pressure if recorded beforehand, but it often looses the "edge" of live work, warts and all. For example, I would have guessed the mix Ross referenced was pre-recorded, even before I asked the question - but I've heard stuff on Globalization that had to be live - and I'd assume that with today's technology it can probably be done without going to the station.

i prefer a live mix as well... i used to visit other cities and record their mix shows back in the late 80s early 90s... there was absolutely no mixing inspiration where i lived... and i loved hearing that raw sound mistakes and all... the ability to multitrack and fix things definitely took away some of that enjoyment...

side note...i started out on cassettes...and it seemed i always messed up right around the last 2 minutes of a side... i remember one instance...after doing it twice in a row ...taking the cassette and throwing it across the room....it hit my blinds and made a perfect little cassette sized rectangle in the blind itself...

I've spent a lot of time listening to Trayze live... that dude is so freaking clean it'll blow you away. Whether the pressure was there or not, it's unbelievable what that guy can do on turntables.
