I have a NYE gig in a little village called Gabaraus about 30 miles from home. I hadn't played there in years and this August I did a wedding. The fire hall liked it so they booked me for NYE almost right after. It's 9-1 which is a bonus usually NYE around here is till 2

Was supposed to. The restaurant decided a few weeks ago to offer an early dinner and close by 9pm instead.

Peforming a 9 to 1 gig in a house. It's a House Party.

My Gig is a 80 mile drive. Client does not want any lights, just the music, BUT I may still put some sort of lighting up. I am setting up in a Living Room of a house, and space is limited. They don't have a solid guest count, but any where from 45 to 65 is likely. I was also just told that there probably is not enough room for my 6 foot table. She said I should probably just bring the 4 foot. So, no table top facade either. Everyone is dressing nice though, so she wants me in a suit, but said tie is optional. ...Likely an upscale NYE house party.

I believe I am taking NYE off next year. My wife told me she wants to defenitely go out for NYE next year. ...She wanted to this year, but didnt tell me that until way after I booked this party, lol.

I’ll be playin’, but only the wife will be listenin’.[emoji1] Not sure if I’ll get PAID... but maybe something similar.[emoji1]

You never know. She might pay you in way that's better than any other pay you received all year.

Maybe is my advanced chronological state, but being booked on NYE, as compared to snuggling with my wife, the pups, and wine (her) or martini (me)., became such a pain in the hiney, either working and/or attending,

I earned 35 or more of those NYE Purple Hearts. My recent services to drunken buttheads have been dutifully rendered although I do miss the big money. Does that make me a musical whore?

I had a very similar gig for a few years.
A local lawyer with a big house would throw a NYE party and hire me.
A small enthusiastic crowd....and everyone knew each other....
so everyone was comfortable with acting stupid and having fun.
Guy paid me $1000 for a small sound and light show,
plus the food was incredible and I got to bring my wife!

That party ended years ago, and I haven't worked on New Years Eve since.

No New Years gigs for the last two years. I'm at a point where I have no desire to work on New Years ever again.

For $1000 I could over look a pain in the butt New Years gig ! Maybe!!!!

I am playing tonight in a bar/club (Don Tito, in Arlington VA). No real load in, I bring my laptop and my S9 Mixer with me. I could use the in house Nexus 900, but I like having my cue points and echo out toggles handy instead of the effects engine on the 900. The booth I'm in is elevated pretty high above the crowd. The only people that can really make a request is when they're coming up the stairs going from the main level to the roof.

I have no interest in attending a NYE party, so I'd much rather be out making some money.

I'm DJing a wedding tonight. I stopped doing events myself on Nye a few years ago, but they were persistent and made it worth my while.

35 for me too out of a possible 36. Got cancelled last year

Just getting home. Very much an older crowd I don't think there was anyone under 40 almost all were over 55. I don't think I played anything newer than about 88. There was about 40 people there most left shortly after 12. Finished the night with a request for Acker Bilk - Stranger on the shore

I just got home. Pulled into my drive way at 3:20 a.m.

It was a smooth 80 mile drive home. Less traffic out on NYE lately I notice. Most people just stay home I think. I saw an accident on the other side of 95 as I was heading back into Baltimore. 2 fire trucks, an ambulance, and 2 or 3 police cars were on the scene with 2 lanes shut down.

THe party was fun. Nice people. A good amount of dancing. Actually, Raeggae music was requested by the lady who booked me, and when I got into a raggae set the I had the most people on the dance floor...besides line dances.

The husband helped me carry my stuff inside and out. I told him he doesn't need to do that, but he insisted. Nice guy! I was loaded out pretty quick with him taking bags back and fourth. ...He also tipped me, and said if they throw a party next NYE, they will contact me. Nice crowd. No one was a heavy drinker. These were well to do people. It was a gated housing community. All higher end vehicles in the drive ways of these houses.
