Hello Everyone!
Hope you are all staying sane in these crazy times!
Looking for some recommendations.....
My gigs have all become "micro events" with micro size rooms.
My current setup is really too big - I need to downsize.
I'm looking for recommendations on a smaller, quality controller.

THANK YOU in advance for all of your help!

How small are you thinking and what features do you need? I have a tiny Numark DG2GO2, but I wouldn't use it for actual mixing .. I use it mainly for the physical pause/play button and to cue things up easier than using a mouse.

I really like the Denon Prime Go, but at $999, probably not worth it unless you need battery powered.

There's a bunch of small Pioneer decks that would work ...

Can you please tell us the controller you have now? There are a lot of choices out here and as Steve said what features would you like the controller to have? Also how much are you looking to spend for this controller?

Thanks Steve.
I do want it for mixing. Looked at the Denon Prime Go (I have an MC4000) but you are right about the price.
Which Pioneer controllers? I've been concerned about USB powered decks sucking up too much laptop power
and causing "issues".

I can tell you I have been a computer DJ for many years and I've never had an issue with a USB connection draining power from a laptop. I have a very old laptop that I use and no issues with the USB draining power from that laptop.

The issue I know of is depending on the controller you get you will need a mixer to connect it to so you can use it. That will take up more space.

Your controllers ARE NOT USB powered.

I liked the smaller Denon units (I have a MC6000v2), but Denon seems to have left that market. The Pioneer Pioneer DJ DDJ-SR2 is a solid choice and has its own power supply.

Pioneer looks like a fine choice, but it is bigger than my Denon MC4000.
Yea .. the market sucks right now at the smaller end. Many of the smaller units are bus-powered, and many have limited controls for mics, EQ, etc., so it becomes a big compromise. Since the market has deemed things like performance pads a "necessity", it just made the units larger.

There's a few places that still list the Denon MC6000v2 in stock .. it has been discontinued for a couple years. I like the size (it's rack mountable) and has most needed features except for the pads ...

I have a Pioneer DDJ-WeGO3. It CAN be used for mixing. The jog wheels are actually the same size of those on my Denon MC6000MK2. The cross fader feels solid and, in fact, the entire unit is pretty solid. Effects are somewhat limited, but it’s about 2/3rd’s the size of my MC6000MK2, so that should be expected. It’s a backup system for me, paired with a Microsoft Surface tablet PC, but I could do an event with it if necessary.

For smaller controllers, I'd check out the Roland line. The 505 has the sampler on it which takes up some of the real estate. But I think they are making really high quality controllers for the size and money.

I'm curious as to why you feel you need a smaller controller? What are you using now besides the controller you mentioned earlier that you feel you need a smaller one? I'm taking it where you're being placed to do these events lately has you in a tight space. Like a small corner where there's not a lot of room for you to breath or move.

I have the Denon Prime Go and absolutely love it. I am carrying that mainly and thought about the Prime 4 but for what I do the Go works great for me. Never thought I would use it under battery power but I have and it is a nice feature.

It is smaller then most controllers out now. I have the Wego also and it is really only about 40% bigger then that. As for price this is a solid unit and well built and have no fear of it breaking down because of transporting or wear or tear. the Wego has had multiple break downs and have replaced it once already. For the price and now using this as my main unit it was worth every penny.

We have a cheap one that is made by Numark.

Yes, I need to take up less space. I LOVE the Denon MC4000. Also have a 3000, but stopped using it because it doesn't support all of the software updates.
