I have 13 months till I need it yet, so sometime later this year I;m thinkin' i'll buy it.

"IT" being something for ceremony or cocktail hour.

I booked a wedding for next april and the ceremony is outside the far right side of the country club, followed immediately by cocktail hour in another room on the far left side of the building then dinner follows in the main ball room.

Thinking over the possibilities and such and I can set up my current ceremony for cocktails and use a yamaha powered top for ceremony, then move it to the reception room. Or get another yamaha top that matches what I have, nice for backup or bigger gigs. Figure to get 2 probably, can use them as 'satellite' speakers in bigger rooms or big school dances.

S0... move stuff (cheapest), 2 more matching powered tops ($1000-1100), or an L1/HK/similar linear array setup ($1000?) offers more versatility.

Or?

Which Yammies are you using? I've been using a one 12" inch powered speaker for ceremonies. That's all that's needed if you're only doing a few ceremonies per year. Having a mixer section on the back of an active speaker can come in handy too, at least a mic channel and instrument channel.

I sold my Compacts (3) and replaced them with the F1-812 speakers (3). The F1-812 can sit on floor/ground and the adjustable array can be set to propagate the sound upwards. The F1-812 can be set on a cocktail table and the adjustable array can be set flat faced. The F1-812 can be mounted on a tripod, elevated, and the adjustable array can be set to propagate the sound downward.

The Compact has 6 array drivers and one 8" bass speaker (4 pieces); the F1-812 has 8 adjustable array drivers and one 12" bass speaker (one piece):
The Compact has 130watts total power (106db spl); the F1-812 has 1,000watts total power (132db spl);
The Compact weighs 38 pounds; the F1-812 weighs 45 pounds;
The L1 Compact regular not-on-sale price is $999.00 (currently 15% off till 03-31-17 for $849.00); the F1-812 regular not-on-sale price is $1,199.00 (currently 15% off till 03-31-17 for $1,019.00) NOTE: bag not included.
Two L1 Compacts might handle a 80-90 person gig; a pair of F1-812 will handle 150-175 easily:

To me, the F1-812 is an overall more business sensible choice over the Compact. The choice really depends on the applications in your business.

For outdoor ceremonies, cocktails in the other room, and as a general purpose anywhere-you-need-sound speaker, I'm still finding it hard to beat the Denon Envoi. The ability to plug in via mini-jack, RCA, 1/4" or XLR, connect via bluetooth or play from a USB stick or SD card gives you flexibility that almost no other system can provide.

It's not match for the Yamaha tops that you currently own, but it's less money and easier to move around than an L1 Compact or HK system. I was so impressed with my first Envoi speaker that I bought a second one. Now I can be inside, outside, and somewhere else without having to do the pack-up-and-set-up shuffle while guests make their way from point A to point B.

Hmmm...seems to good to be true..it does it all - includes wireless mics, wheels, battery or ac power...blue tooth..certainly offer more options that some of the other choices. How does it sound?

I cannot speak about the F1 or the Demon, but I use the compacts a lot. I love them for ceremonies and other small events. I believe Cap is mistaken about the weight. I think the compact is 25lbs, not 38lbs, and the extensions add up to 4 lbs. The ability to use it with no extensions, one, or both, is very convenient.

It might not seem like a big deal, but moving around a 25 lb speaker is a lot easier than a 45lb speaker, in my opinion.

Packing it up after a ceremony and carrying it to a the car is easy when it's not convenient to use my cart. Fantastic for backyard parties too.

If all speakers offered free trials, I'd say try them all. But with the compact or F1, you can.

It sounds better than a 10" speaker is expected to sound. It's punchy with decent low end that's comparable to a Bose L1 Compact, the dispersion is good and the low- and high- EQ controls are solid enough to be able to tailor the sound the way you like it. This is the first speaker I've found after more than a decade that has a seemingly perfect combination of features, convenience, sound quality and very good portability.

I've only used the Bluetooth connection when I first got it, but it worked well. I use the SD card reader frequently - I've got a card loaded with 5 or 6 different hour-long programs that are perfect for cocktail hour. Set up, insert card, let it run. Second-location cocktail hour has never been easier.

The only Envoi feature that I don't love is the handheld wireless mic - the range is not 100% dependable after 25' line-of-sight, but it's fine for readers at a wedding ceremony and in those quick instances when you're asked to tell guests in the cocktail hour area that it's time to move to the ballroom for dancing. It's certainly better than nothing when someone asks "Do you have a mic"?

L1 Compact:

Net Weight Power Stand: 24.6 lb (11.2 kg)
Extensions (each): 2.3 lb (1.1 kg)

Shipping Weight Power Stand: 30.0 lb (13.8 kg)
Extensions: 7.5 lb (3.4 kg)

Somewhere between the shipping weight and net weight is closer to actuality as the net weight does not include any of the transport bags.

I would say it depends on what you want and what you really want to use it for. I own the Envoi as well as one F-1. The Envoi was bought for quick setup. Total ability to have no power present and to also use it for wedding rehearsals which we do many of. The Envoi is perfect for that. But as Cap has said the F-1 is a great speaker for anything. In fact I bought my single speaker especially for ceremonies which it is perfect for. The power and the sound are awesome. I have been using the L-1 model 2 with a B-1 for ceremonies now it will be a backup.
