Yeah but, mute buttons are traditionally red, and something that's powered ON should NOT glow red. Except for Soundcraft and its channel ON buttons, which are green at least.

That's not true. Early LEDs were red, and they became the most commonplace indicator lamps on analog electronics. The mute buttons on modern digital boards may change color based on the boards mute group configuration, which dictates a lighted mute condition. Whether a board uses mute or on switches is an extension of it's feature sets.

Actually, the mic preamps are very different ..

I don't think anyone has claimed they were identical. The Behringer preamps were designed by Midas - for the Behringer digital mixer. The difference between a MIdas M32 and a Behringer X32 is obvious - the Midas has smoother faders and a more professional robust build all around. Midas boards are intended to be consoles and supports higher sampling rates which is what accounts for the differences you see.

Midas M32 is the better choice for recording but, in the real world of live mixing there will be no meaningful difference at the preamps of M32 and X32.

I don't think it,s true in the Air series. It's the consoles and snakes M32 and X32 where that has been done
Those images were from the XR12 and the MR12 .. not the larger boards.

There is no reason they should "look" the same. It's Midas design, not a Midas product.
It's not the "look" (both PCBs are basically the same) .. it's the fact the Midas version has ADDITIONAL pre-amp components that are not there on the Behringer version .. just pointing out the $50 difference for those 2 boxes is justified with better (and ostensibly cleaner) mic pres and better connectors (there may be others). They share much of the same circuit topology .. doesn't make them the same.

You're not going to hear anything different. Behringer is not capable of 96kHz and the Midas touch isn't a reality in those mixers. It's $50 more for the logo.

Just because you won't hear a difference in a PA situation, doesn't mean a better input stage has no bearing. Heck, the latching Neutrik connectors are worth a few bucks alone over the generic ones in the MR12.

Not saying the MR12 isn't useful, I have one, but if I bought again given the current $50 difference, I'd buy the Midas, yes for the name, as well as the better components.

The non-locking type has one less part to get broken and they're a joy when it's time to strike. :)

MR is Midas.
XR is Behringer.

Since there are no moving parts in either R12 the notion of "better components" is kind of specious at best.
