I have been using digital controllers now for @ 4 years, and I have made plenty of money with the controller I have now! I have been spending money on everything around my set except my controller. I guess I am just a little turned off to the fact that an expensive controller (which is usually the first thing that young DJ's buy) does not make you a successful dj. In fact I see that most beginners spend way too much on their controllers IMO. It's kind of like golf clubs (guys with 2,000.00 PINGS shooting 140),,,, you look like a great golfer until you show the score!
So I will tell you that I have got my money's worth many times over out of my basic controller (NUMARK MIXTRACK PRO 2 and Serato Lite).

The reason for the upgrade is Sound Quality! As a professional DJ whose clientele has been high school and 8th grade proms and H.C.'s , I don't do much more than queuing and syncing, with the aid of a visual GUI (Serato) . I have to step up to better than low level RCA inputs with a better audio section, better D/A converter, more inputs, XLR output,,,,,and so on.

So I first have a price point! @1k will get all of the things that I am looking for!

my first choice ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Pioneer DDJ-SX3! I will be upgrading to Serato with the supporting SX3 software.
Reasons for Pioneer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I think it is the most popular, I like the layout, interchangeable Slide PAD, great specs, easy to purchase!

So my question is?????????????????????????? Is there any other piece that I should look at in this price range?

I like the Denon MC6000mk2 .. has everything I need (only missing piece would be performance pads, but I don't use those) .. and it's rack mountable if needed .. very few are these days.

That one came up as a top 3 also. seems to be very popular.

Less so today than it was say 2 years ago. People seem to be going for the larger boards these days. I prefer the compactness of it. It's rugged, sounds good and has all the features one would normally want.

I have the Denon MC6000MK2 as well. @steve149 made me buy it.[emoji1]... Now I have two of them. Like Steve said, it pretty much has everything you need... probably has MORE (features) than I need. I wanted to stick with the 19” rack-based systems, so not many choices. But I must say, I’ve become a BIG fan of Denon gear.

If and when I buy another controller, though, I’m gonna go larger and it will have dual USB ports. If I was gonna buy a Pioneer controller (and it’s still a possibility) I would switch to Rekordbox too.

Just don't blame me for any Alto or GTD purchases .. :) I am guilty for the Denon and RCF ... (and maybe a few others)

I saw the sx3 has dual usb. How do you think other than running 2 pc’s (which I like) could 2 usb’s Be usefull

The sx3 says that it is a 4 deck player,,,, but the sx2 says it is not, but they are both 4 channel? WTH
# of channels are for the mixer section .. # of decks is for the controller part.

Well I’ll look harder at the Denon. I know a guy on a dj forum that has 2 of them, he might want to upgrade one of them!

Steve, can you convince bobcat to buy a higher model than the mc6000, oh can you also maybe down play the 6000 a lil bit so I could possibly get a better price for that OLD mc6000.😏😏

I stopped using a Controller over 2 years ago. ...I make more money per wedding than I ever did in the past with a controller...

I'm all touch screen...Well mostly touch screen today when I perform! :)

I don’t think I could do it. I like the feel of the knobs and sliders on the controller. I use the computer screen to look at the wave form and to look up tracks in the directory/library, but other than that, I do everything on the controller. I had considered switching to VDJ (for the touch screen interface) and I use DJay Pro on my tablet, but the touch screen just doesn’t feel right to me.
