I have a PV6 BT mixer
1- behringer EP2000 running 4 PR15’s
1- PV1500 running 4 PR15’s
1- PV 1500 running 2 PV118 subs
and a Behringer super x pro CX3400 crossover

sound is ok but subs do not hit lows like I think they should.
I started out with a pair of PV118s and just wasn't impressed with them at all. Like you said they did not hit the lows like I thought they should.

What have you replaced the PV118‘s with?

I replaced them with JBL MRX cabinets. At 4-ohms, they push the amp more than those Peaveys. Of course after a couple of years I replaced those with Yorkville LS801p (powered). Those are monsters but at 150 lbs, they got to be too much. I replace those with Alto 15" subs (powered). I still have those and they're installed perm in my venue.

Those 801P subs are discontinued. They are super great and really hit hard. They hit so hard that you have to make sure they don't over power the tops. They weight 135 pounds.

The PV118 is a 400w program cabinet. The PV1500 is a 300w @ 8 ohms per channel amplifier. As others have said, they have felt the same as you. Equipment-wise, you're underpowering your speakers - there's not enough power to drive them properly. As others have said, these are entry level cabinets - but with the right power driving them, they might sound better.

PR15's are also 400w cabinets. If you're running 2 in parallel per channel (800w @ 4 ohms), you're drawing 500w per channel @ 4 ohms, also underpowered.

The PV 1500 has 'low cut' buttons - used to cut freq's below 40 Hz and 150 Hz xover buttons. The manual has a great depiction of how to use low cut / xover features. In stock configuration, you're sending a full range signal to all speakers.

Let me ask this question. What types of events are you doing? Some events a sub depending on the size of the room and the size of the crowd may be needed or could be overkill. Depending on your answer, I would look for a pair of subs that would fit the types of events that you use them in. Now when you go up in quality expect to spend more money then the ones you have now.

Here you go Mixy.
Thanks for the add, I play music about twice a year for Mardi Gras on a float. We inherited the speaker’s and amps from a previous rider. Looking to have it sound better and make sure I am hooked up correctly. Look forward to the feedback from some professionals.

Subs never overkill if used properly

Well those 801P subs are beast! As I said sometimes subs are needed and other times they are not. Looking at that picture I wonder what size subs would fit on that float and where would you place them? Now let me ask the OP do you do other events that you use the gear for? Since this event is outside and the thing is on a float, I would suggest you do need better subs and possibly better tops as well. If you do buy something else, what are you looking at to buy?

You obviously are not reading (as usual). Per the OP (I highlighted it in red just for you):

Additionally, if you actually looked at the image, you would see exactly what size subs fit on that float - and as a bonus, exactly where they're placed. Please reread this thread in detail before asking any further questions.

Why? That would take out all the fun! Next we'll have float expert advice.

I asked about the OP doing events because to me if he only does those 2 events and nothing else, then I don't see the need to spend more money on speakers just for those 2 events. I know it's about doing things right. If I were to buy more speakers I would have more then those 2 events to do.
