Did Spotify REALLY acquire Traktor, Serato, and Rekordbox???

If so, and they really intend to discontinue these applications, what will you do? There’s still PCDJ, Virtual DJ, and some lesser knowns, as well as Mixxx.

I find it difficult to believe. Is it true?

OK... It was an April Fools joke, but what if it really happened?[emoji1]

Acquiring the software wouldn't change what one currently has .. only what one might upgrade to. There's always iTunes .. :)

Read the text in the blue box at the bottom of the article.

Read the end of my post... But what if it really did happen??? Could something like that really happen, and what would you do?

I’ve been playing with Mixxx and I think I could actually use it professionally. I’d miss Traktor, but losing it would not be devastating.

True, but what if there really was some kind of internal license deactivation capability in your software like there is in Windows? I’m sure there would be thousands of lawsuits.[emoji4]

If some entity (like Spotify) was going to acquire DJ software companies, I would think Pioneer (Rekordbox) and NI (Traktor) would be the LAST ones to sell out. Reason being, of course, is that it would seriously impact the sales of their hardware. But NO application lasts forever. These DJ apps will eventually be discontinued. Think of all the computer applications and services you used in the early 2000’s that no longer exist today.

Then you'd have to use Mixmeister that's what real DJ's use ;)
