To keep my fan boy status, I sold one of my S1 pro's( for more than I paid for it 5 years ago😁), and bought a new S1 pro+.
New version uses the same app as the L1 pro's I have, so that's handy for me.
Built in wireless receiver is nice, so when adding a transmitter, makes any mic wireless. The unit has a slot that stores, charges, and pairs the transmitters.
Few other upgrades but not sure I'll use them.
Speaker is 1pound lighter, but it's hardly noticeable.
Speaker sounds the same, but channel 3 has treble and bass adjustments, where the older one does not.
Will probably sell the other s1 pro and upgrade so I have a pair. Can use the transmitters to link the speakers wirelessly as well😁. App is functional, not fantastic. Tonematch settings are niceIMG_6851.jpegIMG_6853.jpegIMG_6854.jpegIMG_6855.pngIMG_6856.jpeg

I've not tried the EV 8. I've heard others say the EV is louder.

Others have said the plus is louder than the original, but I haven't noticed it in the limited use.

The original was always enough for me for the things I used it for(ceremonies, cocktail, retail, backyards). If I needed more, I'd step up to bigger speakers. It was always about battery power and/or convenience.

In my opinion, this one offers even more convenience for me

I don't see enough reason to switch. This seems like just a renewed S1 in hopes of bringing in some additional sales before they come out with the next full step up battery powered speaker in another 2-3 years or so. I expect their next new speaker to have a strong step up in power and battery time. Perhaps it will have a totally re designed mixer section.

Seems like the strategy worked on at least 1 guy, so kudos to the marketing department

Redesigned electronics, maybe, I could see this. Strong step up in power, unless there is a complete redesign in batteries, I don't see this - at least not with this design. If they make the battery (and design) bigger and heavier, then yes.

The EV is definitely louder. The sound quality on both are great. I believe the EV is slightly heavier too not enough to make a difference

I can't see them going smaller!

Their next speaker should probably go the route they were going with the Subs and have a race track driver that is comparable to a 10" conventional speaker so it has hopefully more power/volume than the EV speaker. I can see it being a slender looking speaker.

OR, they simply jump up to an 8" standard woofer so it has more bass over the S1 Pro. Perhaps it can have additional features like usb and usb c ports for charging things. An XLR out would be nice in addition to the 1/4" link out that the S1 has.

I also don't see them going smaller - but it could be done. My point wasn't that they would go smaller - it's that in order to get more power, they would need to go bigger, which I don't see happening either.

It worked on at least one guy twice. 😁 Just ordered the 2nd one. The ease of having 2 small battery powered speakers wirelessly linked with the built in receivers was too good to pass up. We do events that this would be great for.
If we knew an older DJ with health issues that played for mostly older people and smaller crowds, this system would seem perfect for almost every event they did. We know anyone like that?😁

Oh, I completely agree - but it won't be the S1 Pro Plus Plus or even an S2. I could see them moving to a 4 inch driver array though.

Used it twice. Flawless so far.
Each time, I wasn’t very far away. Docs say up to 30 feet, so that’s something to keep in mind.
I have not used a lav transmitter yet, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work with an xlr. I’ll test it next week, going to the cabin this weekend😁

my early take: Very handy having a transmitter that stays stored and charged in the system

No. I meant using just a lav mic with the Bose transmitter (XLR connect). I'd like to eliminate my existing lav (with its own receiver).

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. I’d think connecting the lav mic to the Bose transmitter should work …..I think a cable or simply a gender changer would be needed for me. Thus being able to use the built in receiver.
I believe my cables going from my lav mics are male xlr. The bose transmitter is male xlr, so we’d need a Bud light can or an adapter to change the gender😁

Uhhh…I’m an idiot. I went to try this and realized nothing I said made sense trying to do this with my sennheiser g4 lack mic. 😁
I see now why you were confused.
Going to try with just this.

That looks good. Depending on how stable that built-in wireless unit is, that would give you a fully wireless capable rig. Please let us know how it works out.
