That's why my desktop has 3 2Tb drives in it, an external dual docking station to back it up AND 10Tb of array storage (5Tb mirrored) in my NAS ... files eat up space.

Usually .. yes. Some 7200 discs run a little warmer, but I haven't seen an issue on any machines.

Steve I bought a 2 TB Seagate portable HD for $85.00 from Micro Center. It works great and no need for a power cord.

External drives are usually better if they have their own power.

the 2TB SSD's are already out over $1500.00 which isnt surprising

So far it's working fine. I also have another one that is running off of a power cord.
