If you played the stuff you mentioned they would never book you again. Don't take it the wrong way because I agree with you. A lot of the music they listen to is garbage to me. Yet it's not about what I think. It's about what is going to please the kids attending the prom. They want mostly current stuff. Micheal Jackson did some great music when he did what he did and I have nothing to say bad about the music he did. It's just that probably most of those kids weren't born when Micheal was doing music. So they probably only know about him through a different way then you and me. Uptown Funk is a great song and I still love it and love to play it still. That might work depending on the kids attending the prom.These songs suck, and almost all of that music is stupid.
THey can listen to that crap on their devices at home any time they want. ...This is a party...Needs Party music!
I would play Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Danza Kuduro, ...some Usher...Then top of it off with Rick Astley Never Gonna Give you up
Iggy, Calvin Harris, Pitbull, Ne-yo, Rihanna, Chain Smokers, Martin Garrix, Marshmellow if they are into EDM at all. Maybe some Cardi B, DJ Snake. Show them some good stuff to dance to. Not this garbage that nobody will remember 3 months from now!

I looked that song up on YouTube and even the clean version is but so clean. These are the songs kids listen to today. Remember you did certain things when you were a kid or at least thought of doing things that they talk about now. I remember when the Isley Brothers put in the song Fight The Power the word BS. That was unheard of back then. Now that's tame compared to today. The big problem today is trying to find clean versions of a song. I will say this. The women it the video of the dirty version are super fine! I'm going to watch it again.
