Howdy Folks,

In an effort to keep ODJT friendly to all our members we've made a separate forum for political discussion which is opt-in. This means that political threads will not show up in search results for regular members. Members will have to add themselves to the political user group on this page.

If you run into any issues please let us know.

Thank you,
Dan

Didn't we already go through this with the man forum?

Yes and no. The man forum was opt-in by admin only. That is an administrator had to manually move you to the user group to view the man forum. The political forum is at will opt-in you or anyone else can opt-in and out without an admin doing it for you. Feedback here along with some emails and private messages suggested that a number of members weren't happy the amount of political discussion going on and the drama that goes along with them. A moderator suggested we make an opt-in forum, none of the other mods took issue with it so we implemented it.

An opt-in forum solves the problem those who want to participate only have to join once and those who don't want to see or hear the political discussions don't have to do anything.

The pub has been this way since we first started except it's opt-out.

Isn't the obvious answer; just don't read political posts? I'm still amazed how some get so upset/rankled over topics/people when all they have to do is ignore it....

This is true and I agree. Thing is, some threads that are started with an innocent enough topic get siderailed into political discussions and debates. I am equally guilty of this practice. :(

Nothing wrong with either topic style. Some members would prefer that the two remain separated. :)

Thank You Dan.

While i never complained to the mods about them, (I normally ignored them)

I would exit a thread mighty fast the moment it turned political.
I just don't care to hear about it.

I think its a great thing for those that choose to do battle in there.
