I remember seeing the first techniques CD player SL1200 which had pitch control in about 1985. A few years before at a Hi-Fi show, they gave a demo on the digital recording where the digital information was stored on videotape. Absolutely no hiss, rumble, no pops, or clicks. At that time I did even have 1200s yet. In 1989 Denon released their first dual CD player at the New Music Seminar in NYC. One set controls for both sides you had to select 1 or 2. What hell were they thinking? CDs were being handed out as well as cassettes. I seriously didn’t think the Denon reps were going to make it out alive with the blowback from the CDs and the Denon player. A few years later I started the Transition CDs with portable CD players then Numark 5020 dual CD player. Which had to be the worst CD player no Instant start.

The worst for me was the Numark CDN 25. It didn't scratch. So when you cued up a song to setup a mix, all you heard was shuddering. I never owned one. A friend did. I still never understood why Technics never put out another DJ CD player or move on to making a DJ controller. I had a pair of 1200 turntables that got stolen. The ones that were above them was Thorns. They were belt drive turntables and you really had to practice a lot to use those turntables properly. Club Zanzibar had them.

Myself I eventually bought a pair of Pioneer CDJ 800's and got at least another MK2. I'm sorry I sold them. I regret that. Even though I begun using a controller. I also regret selling a pair of Earthquakes.

i still have a digital audio tape player I wonder if you can still buy the tapes??
eBay most likely. I am going to try to get rid boxes of blank cassette single & CDR there. I had a DAT too, thats what the track artists used after Reel to Reels. But I haven’t seen one in years, I completely forgot about that format.

I go to Micro Center and get CDR disc to record stuff. I take songs off of my HD and use Windows Media Player to put songs on a CD. I have a CD player with a USB slot and radio in my van. I still love making CD's to play in my van. I do understand a newer vehicle doesn't have a built in CD player. For me that sucks.

I hate to say it CDs are very old technology now, thats why they leave them out. My son who is 19 has never used or owns any CDs. You can play your music directly from a flash drive. Just copy your song or mixes (you can record directly to a file in VDJ) then copy them to a flash drive. A 64GB flash drive can hold thousands of songs/many hours music. It only takes minutes to copy the thousands files. If you don’t have a flash drive input in your car get a Wireless in-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter Radio Adapter Car Kit with flash drive input. That’s what I have in my van. I didn’t have them put in a GPS just a FM/AM radio. I use my phone for streaming, GPS & phone calls and the flash drive if I want to listen my music. Works great and saved me big bucks not buying that van GPS. The GPS in my phone get better traffic updates/routing than the GPS in my SUV anyway.
