I have a wedding this Saturday, and have been struggling to find the music that they are requesting for the ceremony. The only place I have found it so far is youtube, and that is a cover done by a third party. I'm not sure how I should handle this problem.

Agree with Taso, just call/email them. It's likely that she's sourcing from youtube so just ask for the actual URL of the cut then convert to mp3. I know the sound quality may not be what you want but the most important thing is to get the correct version of what the client has requested.

They did provide a YouTube url, but I don't really like grabbing mp3's from there, not really because of sound quality, but I try to look at legalities.
I don't disagree, but it may be the only place you can get some of these without help in finding the actual source. I don't do it very much, but it seems that artists, especially older ones, are remaking songs in order to grab a bigger share of royalties, and there are versions only available in places like Spotify or YouTube.

First things first...3 days out is too late to be having these struggles. Do better next time.

If you had the time, you could contact Chris Salazar and request n mp3. He would likely be both flattered and proud that his effort was so appreciated....it might not be too late to do this, I would try.

What you will likely have to do is to leech, aka STEAL the music from Youtube in some way and that is as disrespectful to his effort and art-form as you might imagine. I don't suggest anyone help you with such thievery.

Try and contact the artist and offer to pay for his work.

I am well aware that this is getting late, and I am normally a lot more on top of these things, but thank you for the reminder. I am trying to do things besides leech any artist work. Personally I would prefer to purchase the music legally. And thank you for the suggestion of contacting the artist, I honestly didn't think about that one.

BTW, The posted video does NOT seem to be an instrumental version of Westside .. it appears to be a cover. You would need to contact This Wild Life to see if there was an actual instrumental version.

If the client has the YouTube link
and that seems to be the only place to find the version she wants....
use Steve's link and just convert the video to mp3.
If you have several thousand songs that you obtained legally...
no one will judge you for doing it in this situation.

Well, "I" won't judge you...
But I can't speak for the rest of the world.

FWIW, I do agree on avoiding youtube, wherever possible. It's not legal and the sound quality isn't always up to snuff. However, in the scheme of things, if the client makes a specific request for a youtube-only option, I'm going with what the client wants, period.

Although the song, and the weather was a pain to deal with, the wedding went well.

This was my setup last night. Wasn't allowed a sub, per venue, but made it work, and still sounded decent.

Seems like there really wasn't a need for a sub in that space, anyway!
What DID you end up doing about the song?
