I know a few of you guys here use the Nimbus to do dancing on the clouds. As I'm talking with more prospects, I'm seeing a lot of reaction when I talk about Dancing on the Clouds and sparkler fountains. Depending on how much money I have left after bathrooms and HVAC, I'm thinking about investing. Regarding the Nimbus, what's the big difference between the Jr. and Sr. (???) versions. I know the big one needs a 30-amp circuit for the dual elements (not a problem) but how do they compare for runtime and output? Here's my dance floor (below). Would appreciate any advice or thoughts in regards.

Get the bigger one not the smaller one...I don’t even think they make the smaller anymore. You only need to heat it up to warm the water up... one 15amp circuit is fine, as you don’t need the dual element unless in a time crunch to warm up the water. You don’t need it plugged in during actual use (I unplug it right when intros start and move it to the edge of the floor). You will need somebody to operate it in real time, as the best effect is produced when you drop in fresh dry ice every 20-30 seconds to create a cloud of nice volume. 15-20lbs of dry ice is all you need... I buy a little more to be safe... buy double if buying from the night before.

So there's no fan to push the cloud? So with my setup, how would you recommend placing the unit? Once it's un-plugged how long can it sit in place before you drop the basket? How long will it produce fog per cycle?
- no fan

- depends on if there is any ac units in the room blowing air a certain way. I usually put it by the edge of the dancefloor but do a small test run before partystart to see which way the “air” is blowing so the smoke coming out of the machine doesn’t blow away from the couple...that Way when we actually do bring it to the dancefloor for the first dance, we know exactly where we need to be.

- after unplugged I wouldn’t wait more than 10 mi. To drop the ice in, as the water will start to cool. This is why we unplug it right when we start intros and my assistant brings it to where it needs to be at that point.

- we only use it for the first dance. I don’t know what you mean per cycle. As in a full bucket of ice being Dropped in? I mean it will last 3-5 minutes the issue is it won’t look great after the initial 30-45 seconds which is why we always drop fresh ice every so often to keep the cloud volume nice.

Ah, that helps, thank you. So would you recommend to start the 1st dance, then drop the ice during the intro? What about sparkler fountains, when do you turn those on? I'd envisioned having fog during the 1st verse then hitting sparklers as the chorus begins. How do you do it?

My team member drops the ice as soon as the first dance starts and keeps dropping ice every 30 seconds until the end of the song, where he rolls it away (buy the cart). It quickly disappears soon after. Make sure to have towels on hand as moisture develops around the machine and as a venue you don’t the liability.

The sparkler fountains are typically done on the choruses to emphasize them. If the song doesn’t have a powerful or recognizable chorus then I do it around 30-45 seconds in and then around 30 seconds before the end since couples often finish with a dip or a kiss or something to get a good photo moment. Sparklers are shot for 15-30 seconds at a time

Thank you. That's excellent info.
