The DXR MK1s were great already! Happy to see Yamaha stepping up.

Does it have an internal reactor? The continuous output power is listed as 700w but the input power consumption is listed as 90-110w.

Actually, many products list wall power consumption at 1/8 output power. This is because music has a crest factor and clip lights start flickering when the average power is about 1/8 the max power. However, the specs don't say they are doing that. Yamaha is generally more precise at listing their specs.

I heard they starting using Congressional numbers .. :)

Yeah I want these speakers!!!

...Only minor...very minor thing I wish Yamaha did was put a thin black felt behind the speaker grill to make it look more sleek, and hide the woofer and tweeter kinda like the EV and newer Alto TS speakers. I am going to head down to a local music store in about an hour. I will see if they have these speakers in and vailable to listen to.

Yes, let us know what you think about them. I'm also in the market for some new 10's to put with my RCF 705 asll.

Just got back. ...They did not have the new DXR Yamahas for display. They had the older DXR series still set up.

...I listended to the Presonus Air 12 though. They had that on sale for $429.99, and the sales guy said he could actually work out a price even better than that if I wanted to buy it. ...I am all done with speaker purchases for a while though.

They actually had a pretty good deal on QSC K10.2 speakers. On Sale for $530+ Tax.

They had a close out on Alto TS212S, TS215S, and TS218S subwoofers. Actually, very nice prices. I think the 215S Subwoofer was $395 on sale. The Alto TS212S was $320. They are closing them out, so I am assuming Alto is about to release a new Subwoofer line.

I ended up buying a new ADJ Boombox FX2. They gave me a great deal on it below any internet price I can find...even on used or store demo models! They actually gave me a better price than what they originally quoted me 3 weeks ago. I was impressed for a New In Box light.

They had a small Martin Moving Head light on sale for $260. It was probably compareable in size to a Chauvet 155. About 50% bigger than my ADJ Inno Pocket Spots. I was interested in it, and surprised to see a Martin moving head that low in price at a store. I'm sure regular price on it is $399 or higher.

This place is my go to store for now on. Only issue is that it is a 54 minute drive with light traffic on a Saturday morning each way.

I saw that Martin Thrill mover in a store recently .. not bad but still a little dim (18w). I'm looking at a pair of the ADJ Pocket Pro, which look to have replaced the Inno Pocket ones. They have replaceable gobos (though small) and a 25w LED vs the 10 or 12 in the Inno Pocket ones. Still looking to find something in the 35-50w level (I think the Chauvet 155 is 32w).

Maybe Chauvet will come out with a Chauvet 165! :)

Yes, it was the THRILL.

The 260 is nice, but a bit big for what I want them for. ...Also, apparently, according to a video I watched on youtube, the tilt down on the 260 is not good. For some reason it does not get low enough to hit the dance floor on a totem according to the video I watched. It's one of the top ones on youtube. ...I don't think I really need a 60 watt LED though. Many of the rooms I am in are not large, and then again most of my clientelle does not want our top package anyway. So it makes it difficult to invest in larger moving head lights.

For me, I agree the larger ones would be overkill for the smaller events I do. I have a pair of Blizzard moving washes and I have an ADJ Inno Pocket Scan, but the washes are just moving PARs and the Scan is too dim for anything other than a tight bar dance floor (plus I broke one, so not as interesting with just 1).

Does anyone here have any real life experience with these speakers?

I might have to go check out that Martin Thrill Mini Mover. 'Thrill' seems to be a name they're applying to a variety of fixtures (pars, foggers, etc). The Rush (MH8) also gives you split colors. :)

'Rush' also seems to be a name they're applying across fixtures.

Not even sure they are out in the wild yet. They were just introduced last month.

I doubt it. The music store I went to - Chuck Levins is a authorized Yamaha dealer. They are the only music store I know within driving distance that sells RCF and Yamaha. They did not even have them on display yet. They did have the older DXR series on sale though.

...Guitar Center does not really display the Yamahas in their stores much even though you can get Yamaha through them. They use to display the Stage Pas system for a long time, but they don't any more. They had older Yamaha Speakers the MSR400s on display for a few years, but last time I went in there, really nothing much in terms of Yamaha speakers on display. Guitar Center always trys to push QSC K.2, or Bose L1 to customers. Budget customers they will try to sell EVZLX, JBL EON, or Mackie or the new QSC CP series. They only show the Alto if someone asks for them because Alto has little mark up compared to some of the others.

I have four of the DX12 (mk1 i guess they are now..) and LOVE them. Have yet to get them to distort, overhear or act bad in any way. And from Northern Sound and Light they are inexpensive (more so when yamaha runs their $100/speaker rebate).

They sound great and are not harsh, which I like the most. Crank em all night long and you don't go home with a headache or ringing ears.

You should be able to continue to use them for another 8 to 10 years or more Yamahas are work horses. My Dad has a pair of BR12s from 2003. He still uses them!

Pretty sure My next pair of speakers will be Yamaha when I do buy speakers again. The new Yamaha DZR line looks real sweet as well. Considerably higher price than DXR though

I paid 550 or there abouts for each of mine, got covers (first 2 had regular covers, second 2 have weather proof you can plwy with them on covers).

I use one for ceremony and 2 for weddings and most events. I got the wireless setup for putting 2 remotely.

I have the stage pas 600 for smallest events and used to use it for ceremonies. Hven't used it much since I got the other 2 DXR's.

the higher end model is, according to yamaha lit, for 'live events/music' which is what bose lists their stuff for.

I got the evx subs, the top of their line, over the yamaha subs...good subs, but don't sound 'musical' enough for me. I have smaller/cheaper ev 12" subs an dlike their tone/sound.
