For me a lot of the events I do the crowd is looking for me to mix. That's what some who have been to an event I've done before expect and would be pissed off if I didn't.

I could mix without a controller using the left and right arrow "nudge" keyboard shortcuts to keep beats matched up, but the jogwheels on the DAC-3 controller were much easier and what I had been used to with my dual CD players. It's not like I wasn't mixing at all.

When I first came back I was using the Numark CDN 88. A dual CD player that also could be used with a computer. At that time a DJ using a computer wasn't popular like it is today. So it looked like that unit. At that time I was using CD's then. I haven't used a CD to DJ with in many years. I don't know when I was a DJ using CD's. My partner talked me into becoming a computer DJ and then I talked my friend into becoming one too. He resisted like I did, but since he made the switch he's very happy. I will never use CD's to DJ with for an event ever again. I remember having to use an interface box to connect to a unit so it can read a software program on a computer. Now they are built in with controllers these days. That means one less piece you need to use to be a computer DJ When using a CD player you needed time coded CD's to read a DJ software program. They had to match the software program you were using. Modern technology is something else these days.
