Wow, I remember CVs back in the day (80s & 90s), they were like lugging around a fridge.
I honestly can't say I know any mobile DJs that use CVs these days. Hopefully they aren't these huge-ass speakers like they used to be.

Well here is one that does.
I don't think two active speakers on tripods that most mobile dj's use today could cover an event like this.

Four folded horns was all that was needed for bass for 900+
They have wheels and they are easier to move around than my tops.

In size, I use the equivalent of the CVs, either two or four JBL Scoops. I guarantee you that when deployed they do NOT sound like a DJ system, which is what I avoid! They have that Live Sound! As drzinc states, they have wheels and are much easier to move than a sub with no wheels that you have to lift.

Hey David, I think you and I had better get rid of the big stuff and use what a certain DJ ;) uses. If I remember correctly according to a post, it was stated that what was used was "passive Yorkville E210's and the sub is a powered Yorkville LS700p" for 800+ people

Sorry but the new CV's sound like crap. The older model ones were the best. Now the older model ones I would say you're right. The new ones are garbage and that's just me saying this. I'll say please give the new one that I heard a listen and you decide. Trust me their is a big difference from the ones back in the day to the ones now.

cant compare the scoops to the Vegas or 52's but similar in size etc.
What makes you say that? Back in the day The JBL Scoops and the CVs were associated as being in the same class even though they were slightly different in design. The Scoops have a front firing transducer while the CV has a back firing one.

Canute one thing for sure the original earth quakes were much better then the ones that are made now.

I had a pair and they thumped super hard. Absolutely one of the best subs ever made!

I have a pair of T36/750's loaded with BNC drivers. Probably the cabs were built in the mid 90's.

They have a nice 60hz response so they are kind of a one trick pony...but they BOUNCE nicely to electronica 4 on the floor thump.

I'm comfy with those along with my EV Elims for 600 kids or so...

That being said...I'm sold on BFM designed T39's...single 12" cab...Yes....single 12".

I've heard 4 of these thumping together on a Crown CE2000. We didn't push em obviously...just listened. Those cabs are so responsive and clean sounding. Throw some LAB12's in there and boy howdy talk about sick extension and low frequency response.

Just wow.

But I'm happy with my CV's for now. I'm like the others. I feel like I have some of the better cabs they produced and not really interested in their newer stuff...
