Well, just when you think you've seen it all. I just received an email from a client, asking to pay the remaining 50% balance ($1350) for their wedding on 5/11/2019. Yes, that's right. I missed billing them, we had their wedding and 6 weeks later THEY ASK ME for the final invoice. I'm thankful for "found money" and I'm thankful for honest clients but this one just floored me. Don't think I've EVER missed sending some notice on the balance before.

That's a sure fire sign you have too much on the go...I've been there I know the signs

True dat but it's not likely to get better in the near future. I SHOULD have been scheduling final invoices at the time of booking. Sloppy paperwork on my part.

I had a nightmare scenario happen about 10 years ago when I was all out. It wasn't totally my fault but I didn't do my due diligence that I normally would and it added to the problem

Well, I got a reply back from the bride. It looks like they paid by check and I didn't log it in Square. The guy that inquired this morning is from a September event but somehow had a link to this bride's wedding (my confusion). Man, I got it wrong on multiple levels but at least it looks like I did collect my money.

OK .. that's the second sign ... :)

Nothing like this EVER happens to me.[emoji1] Not because I’m not senile, because I am. NOPE... I married a CPA and she’s Secretary in our company. She keeps the books, which are always in PERFECT order. This past Sunday, she completed our Franchise Tax Form, which is due next week. If I had to do some of the stuff she does, I’d procrastinate and the business stuff would never get done.[emoji1]

....and the 3rd, I forgot to get the concrete guy scheduled to pour the floor....................
That's OK .. you didn't have the cash from the check you already cashed ... Maybe you need to get Mix's sister to open your mail .. you might find more checks ..

or I could just throw a birthday party for myself at my own venue and make everyone pay for a ticket to attend....................

Ya see; there’s the rub. If there was a way to MAKE people pay, Mix would have already been doing it. Problem is; you can’t make them pay, but you CAN make them NOT ATTEND. Mix seems to have that one down pat.[emoji1]

Rick. Don't feel bad. These situations come about due to getting older. Yes you may be wiser as you have gotten older, BUT you are also going to "Forget where things are" ..."Forget about doing things... "Forget where you put something" ...These instances will occur much more often as time marches on! :)

My mother was asking me where her glasses were a couple of years ago. Well, those glasses whe was looking for...They were on her head! ...She is in her 70s.

It happens!

In regards to final payment. I have made it a routine practice to 100% check to see if a client has paid their balance, and it has cleared my account 3 days before the event. ....I already know if I received a payment by this time or not in my head, but I double check to make sure. If I have not, I send them an email letting them know to bring CASH to pay the balance at the event.

...I did this with a bride I booked my brother on last Saturday. ...Even though her and my brother already discussed everything, I still sent her an email as an extra reminder. ...She paid him $855 in cash, PLUS he received a $150 tip. He does not mind carrying a bunch of cash around.

Again, the 5 year old birthday party my son and I just did. They paid us in cash on the day of at the beginning of the party. ...We had extra cash to take on vacation.

I had a instance where I once booked a Payment under the wrong client. Same Last name. Events several months apart. Quite embarrassing when the guy had to contact me to tell me he went to pay his balance and our website said he didn’t owe anything. He knew it was a mistake.
