No matter who you are, no matter who you THINK you are, no matter where you are, when somebody makes a request, no matter what, NEVER say, "I'll see what I can do."

Even if you mean it, say something else that at least SOUNDS different.

Try something more direct:

"Sorry, I can't." If necessary, then politely explain why.

or, if you are unsure, or if you have to "see what you can do,":

"I think I can." If there is a stipulation, then politely explain that; and, if you realise later that you cannot do it, then go up to the person and let him/her know (this is classy)--heck, if you cannot leave your booth, then announce it on the mic (THAT is why you have that tool).

People might be disappointed with you for not providing what they want but, at least, they will not HATE you for lying to them.

Second handly experienced that... Which has now led me to my target market!

My target market is 12-16 yr b-day parties. The reason I was called was because the DJ in my area did not play any of the kids requests, I try to be very forgiving on some, and others I try to crack the whip and make them look stupid... "Why would you want to request that?"

However I think requests play a major part in referalls, because all it takes it you telling no to one or two of the most popular kids in the school and your out of there... Why "That dj doesn't play requests" or "That dj didn't play my requests" you will get blacklisted, just like in High School when popular students "Blacklist you"
