I have a DJ/MC, 20 uplights with monogram and leko. I mounted chauvet colorstrips on the top of my QSC K10s and cranked them 9ft in the air. I have a bit more cable cleanup to do but I'm liking the lights over the speakers.

They look good like that and neatens up the setup. How did you mount them?

Just screw the o-clamps into the bolts at the top of the speaker. It's very secure. Just hope I can get them in the bags with those o-clamps on them. I don't want to have to re-assemble it every time.

Wow! Love the "Elvis" microphone!!

Thanks. I've been using that for myself for several years and just recently, I started copying one of my other DJs and put it on a stand out front for toasts. I'm getting a lot of "cools". The cool thing is it seems to fix the problem of people who can't use a wireless or who roam in front of the speakers with the mic. It's very functional like this.

I think mounting light on top of speakers is the only way to go! Clean and simple

I had no lights with my set up tonight, but I do agree that lights on top of speakers or mounted to your speaker stand is almost the only way to go for weddings. For me, that is beacause in my area many of the venues are smaller, and there is just a limited amount of space to work with. I have only set up my light stand for a mitzvah this year so far, and I do not have any more events on the calendar where I am bringing out my light stand.

Honestly, I could sell my light stand and 1/3 of my lighting effect arsenal, and I will still be okay.

I will highly recommend that you get some Laptop Stands!

Just go with these. They are similar to the Pro X Stands version which is 1 inch taller, but other than that, almost the same...just a bit heavier by maybe 8 more ounces.

It's actually cheaper than when I purchased it. It was $32.95 like 9 months ago. Now $27.95. Buy 2 of them and you will be set!

I've bought laptop stands, and don't like them.

As for the gig, this was one of those rare, completely off the hook events and it surprised the heck out of me. I had the hardest time getting the clients to respond or even provide basic details, so I wasn't expecting a lot. The clients and the guests came ready to party and they were absolutely wide open the whole time. The sound setup turned out fantastic. That single sub put lots of thump on the floor and the high speakers gave excellent coverage and separation. I'm really digging this setup and plan to continue with it.

I hate laptop stands as well. I had one before and just never liked it. Ricky how big is your light stand?

Looks great. That's just what I'm about to do with my lights. I just got some o-clamps at Guitar Center this weekend to give it a try.

I like it, Ive thought about doing this, I need to get some bigger O-claps to attach to the poles.

I would attach to the top of the speaker, but damn, I can not seem to get the cap out of the mounting hole.

On the k10 it's a stick on.

The only time it won't work is when the room is oddly shaped, or when you can't get a symmetrical setup.
But it is very clean and simple.
