This would have been a paid event and not a freebie. Also the one I'm doing in October I have most of details already in place. Just need the time for the event, the actual room upstairs and what music the daughter will want me to play including the intro song.

No I know where event is taking place. It's going to be at Casa Del Sol in Union, NJ on Voxhall Road. My mechanic is near there. I just don't know the exact room upstairs as I've worked there before but never been upstairs. The time and music for the event are no big deal because the event is over 5 months away. So I will have those things in plenty of time.

it's because we have a question about the best way to accomplish something.
Sooner or later you'll learn that you should NOT post about a gig you don't have!
It doesn't even make sense to post about a gig you have confirmed, but haven't done yet.
So it REALLY doesn't make sense to post about a phone call from someone,
who is only inquiring about your services.
Do the gig, take some pics and some video....and THEN post about it.

You know you can still have a contract without times. I just put a “up to 4 hours total, exact times to be determined by a certain date” in the times slot.

NO what I said is I can't send out a contract unless I have details for the event including the price we both agree upon. No the contract is not blank. I will say it again. This potential client wouldn't give up any details other than the date for the event and wouldn't communicate with my partner. Now do you understand?
So, send the contract with a price of say $500 and as Taso said, time of "up to 4 hours" or so, and whatever other info you have.
Then there was never a gig just an inquiry....Once you contact them back and they don't respond they are trying to tell you something
What's funny is people suggested sending out a contract. Where do you send it to if you don't have any info? Outer space? LOL.
I think the funny thing was you saying you had a gig, but didn't have a contract. I think that is what everyone is trying to get you to understand. You did not, in fact, have anything other then a general inquiry. Why do you see it as a gig that fell through when you never, in fact, had anything agreed upon or signed, and apparently the person your partner was talking to hadn't even discussed with his sister, who seems to be deciding the entertainment, if any, since the friend had to talk to her.
But, I could be wrong. Maybe this was a gig that fell through......I know, based on your comments, I wouldn't have had this on my calendar and would consider it a day off. If, details were arranged and signed, then on the calendar it goes.

I stated at first I thought my partner wasn't doing things right to get us to do the event, only to find out the guy wouldn't cooperate with any info except a date.
Well howd they get in touch with you to begin with... there must have been SOME form of communication at some point.
