After not finding anything that I liked online, I decided to build one myself. I lucked into the perfect fabric. Where I work we deal with hundreds of styles of fabric, but nothing black. We had a customer order product with their own fabric selection and it was such a perfect match to my new TourX system. After the project was over, there was several yards of fabric left and they told us to discard it. :)

I was going to glue it, but decided against it and added a black felt pad and stapled it.

I still need to give it a second coat of paint and I'm not real happy with the latches I'm using, but they'll do until I find ones that I like.

It all folds done neatly into a 2' x 4' foot section and I'm having a heavy duty vinyl bag made for it to be stored in. It is a tad heavy to my liking, but it will work until I find something that works better. Fortunately I won't have to carry it far because it will hitch a ride on top of the gig rig loading in and out. I just wanted to get a facade made prior to the school season, which starts next Friday night for me.

I'll add some additional photos later when I set up the equipment with it.

Made In The USA

And you can proudly state "MADE IN THE USA"

Awesome Randy, those TourX even look pretty from behind. :)

It looks exactly like the Grundorf I have...Grundorf puts a3 inch piece in the middle which allow a little more flexibility in the front.... it weighs 2l lbs....

I use the box it came in for transport

Try 4-6" piano hinges; 3 per joint

Randy--what was your total cost?

Grundorf utilizes the small 3" piece to allow the unit to fold up within itself, from what I can see. I didn't really care for the look of that 3" piece. I also have a unique size it appears, because I need a 6 foot span, with my 12" side wings allowing me to conceal my tripod legs. Using hinges on the joints is not feasible, because it won't fold together anyways. The two end sections will lay nicely together by alternating ends and the middle section lays on top.

Total cost was around $65 & about 3 hours to put together, but I didn't have to pay for the fabric.

I didn't glue anything. Just placed a second layer of black padding between the fabric and the board, pulled everything nice and tight and stapled the back side. (Used a straight edge and utility knife to trim the excess.)

I was going to glue it but thought the blemishes within the wood would show thru, adding the padding gave it some depth and covered those things up. The fabric has a light backing to it that stiffens it, so it doesn't have a lot of stretch. That made covering the boards that much easier. I used to do this daily when I was on the shop floor, so I knew what I was doing when it came to the covering. :)

I don't know if it's available, what would work great....is a pin/receiver set up. Piece A has a pin the comes out past the side; piece B ; a receptacle...Simply drop the pin into the receptacle and lift to release; akin to a door hinge

I had that in mind and I'm going to give it a try. I think it will work, but I have to test things out. I'd say it would be at least better than the latches. :sqwink:

Randy the set up looks great.
Do you drive all 4 speakers with just 1 amp? Or will you run the subs and tops with 2 seperate amps? By the way I really like the EV amps.
2 amps would ease the load off of just the single amp.

The EV amp runs everything --- all 4 TourX speakers. The old Peavey amp is just playing stand by until I purchase another CP 3000. The 3000 can handle all 4 with ease, but I do want to have another one for backup. I have no fears of running just the one though --- Ben said it was ok. :)

Here's a very bad angled photo of the front. I really need to get some things out of my garage. :( Obviously, the light truss would be much higher at a gig. I'm also thinking about purchasing some color pallettes and installing them where my par cans are and doing away with the pars.
