When we do weddings, we get a ton of requests. I very much limit what is actually played. What is your most hated request?

For me. I despise American Pie, and I seem to get a request for it at every event.

There a bunch of other tracks on my personal "don't play list" I get requested for a lot, but American Pie takes the cake!!

i used to dj at a college bar....and the owners fraternitys song was American Pie... if his frat brothers requested it , even at peak hour, i would have to stop everything and play it ... imagine a full dancefloor of party goers and then that bland zero energy intro comes on and kills everyones buzz except a dozen lunk heads who want to hug it out and sing along...

weekly nightmare...

cc

ps----for me its any song with shuffle or slide in the title...lol...but i still play them

Recently most common request/demand that I dread is, "Play this song from my phone."

Um, Naw!

Most frequently dreaded request(s), " Can you play some music we can dance to" (I often just point to the crowded dancefloor and respond, "they all just asked for the same song, enjoy!") or the equally ignorant, "Play some (insert race based adjective, typically black or white) music."

When I get the black or white BS, my go to response is, "I 'd love to help but my music inventory is maintained alphabetically not by color, I think you want the paint department."

Most laugh and get it but the hard core necks and thugs typically don't appreciate that bit of humor...F dem.

Yea the phone requests get shut down immediately.

Same here, will never play a phone request, the only exception would be if the host paying the bill asks me to do so......other than that.....never.

All of the line dances are easy picks, but most of my clients don't want them, so they're easy to avoid.

Classic slow dances I absolutely despise... Wonderful Tonight - Clapton, Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers, Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh

I truly hate all three of those songs. And I can't figure out why any of them were ever popular.

LOL...Wonderful Tonight is one of my favorites. I'm pretty sure we danced to it at my own wedding...I was pretty darn drunk at that point, but yeah we danced to it.

I haven't played Lady in Red in at least 5 years. Unchained Melody ALWAYS get's dancers...well at a wedding where many of the guests are over the age of 40, it will get many slow dancers, younger couples typically join in after the older ones do. Before I know it, 40+ people are dancing to that one...easily.

Honestly, my most hated requests are requests for stupid songs from garbage rap artists.

I don't mind line dance requests at all. Give the crowd what they want! We are there to create a fun time, not hender it! ...Line Dances are also pretty big in the Baltimore area.

I intentionally avoid crowds that think like dances are the only way to have a good time.

You may hate them, but they should be part of your arsenal.

We may have heard them NUMEROUS times, but most guests hear them only on occasion.....such as a reception.

It's a matter of grin and bear it....

I don't play these 3 alot although I do like them. In order of preference, I like Lady In Red, Unchained Melody and then Wonderful Tonight.
