Here is a video to watch with statistics, and reasons why less people are getting married.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1mHV5BTeco

Also, what's not mentioned in the video is the fact that A single mother with a couple of kids will get back A HUGE TAX RETURN generally speaking. Even though the father and mother could still be together, it financially makes sense because the Mom can get a big tax return every year, on top of being able to get state funded health care as long as she makes under $30,000 a year or so. ...I have known a number of couples who do this over the years.

So just like they don't have funerals anymore, they have "celebrations of life"............... instead of being a wedding dj, capitalize on the new trend and be a "celebration of love" dj.

All you need to do is trade your tux in for something less formal..........

I don't think any of the younger generation that wants to be successful is thinking about how to mooch more from the Government. They want more money, they want to own a home and they want a family (marriage).

I think a large part of the current failure of relationships within the younger generation is this expectation of instant gratification. When reality kicks you in the a$$, what's finally coming clear is .. life.

Interesting video. The young lady’s perspective is a little unexpected, I must admit. What she failed to mention though, is marriage was a RELIGIOUS ceremony... still is, but religion among millennials is much less important than for any past generation of Americans. As people have become less committed to their faith with each generation, their commitments to their marriage vows have also weakened and divorce rates have skyrocketed. Maybe it was not so good for people to stay married and unhappy like many did, but it’s also not good to split for some of the trivial reasons people do now. Times have certainly changed. I DO agree with her that men almost always get the worst of most divorce settlements, especially when there are children. On the other hand, a lot of men are jerks. They’re more likely to cheat (IMO), and many will ditch their spouse when she’s no longer the hot chick they married, having no real emotional attachment. My daughter recently went through a very painful divorce and because her EX was cheating and knew he was going to leave her, he secretly hid money and left her with nothing but bills. A year later, she’s finally digging her way out. Sad, really.[emoji20]

Good Post.

I have to correct you about divorce rates though. With Xenials (people born ,77- 83) and Millinials (people born 84 to '96 or 98 depending on where you get your info from) divorce rates have actually dropped about 21%. Average divorce rate for weddings since 2007 is about 27%.

The generation that had the highest divorce rate among first time marriages are actually both the Silent Generation, and Baby Boomers with divorce rates between 51% and 58%. Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1963) seemed to have the biggest issues staying married, and it's more common to find baby boomers today who are on their 2nd or 3rd marraige than those on their first marriage.

Gen X is where the divorce rate started to decline.

Millinials are marrying older, and not as religious as the silent generation and baby boomers were when they were 18 to 30 years old. Perhaps the early in life 1st marriages were much tougher to make work, and perhaps many married too young back in the day. Millinials won't be as likely to get married 2, 3 or 4 times in life as many baby boomers and silent gen Americans happen to end up doing.

The Great Generation was the last generation to have a low divorce rate. Some say because the Hippy movement, and Femenism movement of the 70s did not effect them as they were too old at that point to be bothered with it. Maybe Millinials will bring that overall lower divorce rate back, but due to totally different criteria and reasons for it.

LOL... I WOULD stand corrected... if I had cited any divorce rates.[emoji1] All I said was divorce rates skyrocketed as religion declined. It’s an opinion based on my experience, and is somewhat supported by statistics. However, I believe when people are polled about religion, they tend to claim they are more religious than they actually are. It’s true that the divorce rate has declined due to the lower rate of millennial divorces, but it’s WAY too soon to say what the rate of divorce will ultimately be, as many millennials have not been married all that long. I think the overall divorce rate will remain well above 50%. My first marriage lasted 19 years, but still ended in divorce. I would NEVER have gotten a divorce though if it was up to me, but it takes two ya know.

Religion will largely go out the window once Aliens land, or make a solid appearance, and it's internationally televised. ...Especially if they tell us that they or another Alien Race are responsible for our existence! That would really throw the world a curve ball. :djalien:

Marriage in the future will more than likely be more of a Renewable Contract. They do it that way in Netherlands, and some other countries. The contract is for 7 years. After 7 years, it can be re newed for another 7, or both can choose to end it without any divorce proceedings or costs. Studies show that as we become more progressive, this will become more popular across the world. The idea that the divorce is utterly costly, and gruelling is so antiquated any way.

Wow! I'm not sure if that a good move or not...

Already happened... A UFO landed in our Winter pasture in 1965... No little space men got out, but it was only about 300 yards from my house, and my brother and I sat on top of the wooden fence in front of our house, and we watched the entire time.

So the existence of other worlds does not mean that God does not exist. On the contrary. We’d be pretty arrogant to think that a being who could create “the heavens and the earth” couldn’t/wouldn’t create other worlds and civilizations. Nowhere in the Bible does it say He ONLY created earth.[emoji4]
