I just "inherited" a broken 2012 13" Macbook Pro from my DJ son. Constant I/O errors, CPU running over 100%. Seems the thin insulation on the flat cable from the motherboard to the SSD had worn through, shorting to the aluminum case - apparently a common problem - so those of you who have them, probably a good thing to check if your's starts to do wacky things.

Mine was repaired with a piece of scotch tape, so I'm now entering the world of OS (specifically Mojave). Please pray for me!

FYI - If you plan to use Serato, there are some settings that you need to be aware of (specifically for Mojave) - they're listed on the Serato site.

Thanks! So far, vs Windows 7, I'm not impressed.

My son says the Serato waveforms will be much "Smoother" on the Mac. We shall see. I'm in the process of doing a full reset before I install anything.

I'm still up on Long Island at my son's house. He has more laptops, both Mac and Windows, then you can shake a stick at. I had forgotten how much I hate Windows 10. Me, and a lot of the business world, are not happy about the ending of Windows 7 support. Since the laptops I gig on never go "online", I'll be OK for a few years, but eventually I'll have to do something, so I'll give the Mac a serious try - especially if it really does work better with Serato. However, since Serato (at least for me) runs perfectly on a fully optimized Windows 7 laptop, I have to see it to believe it! Honestly, if Serato (or any other really great DJ software) is ever ported to Linux (highly doubtful), there would be no looking back for me. Unfortunately, Mixxx is just not there yet.
