Now that I am getting a professional dj controller I will be looking to come out of the controller into a mp3 recorder. I want to cut and mix my own mashups.

Question is

Do I use my pc with software connected by usb to my pioneer controller, or is there an easier way that I don’t know about?
What is the best software to use?
Are any of these good? Best 10 Free MP3 Recorder: Record to MP3 on Mac, Win or Online - (https://imusic.aimersoft.com/record-music/mp3-audio-recorder.html)
Also will be looking for the best tutorial (YouTube video) for the process.

Thanks

Elaborate more about return stereo please!
Most USB connections to a controller are either 2x2 or 4x2, with either 2 stereo feeds coming FROM the laptop and 1 stereo feed going BACK to the laptop (the number is based on the controller .. my Denon is 4x2). The return signal is available as a signal source (it'll say something like USB Audio in) to any app, including a recording one.

i normally use Sony Soundforge for recording...then adobe audition to edit and tweek .... but the beauty of my controller (pioneer rx2) is the secondary usb input that records what your playing on the controller directly to your second flash drive...with one button push...it also has a button to add track marks i think...never used that as of yet

I saw a video about making recording from sera to dj itself,,,,, any reason not to use this feature

Depends what you are recording .. if simply the music mix, then maybe that would work. If you need voice over or any other audio that would come through the controller, you'd need to record out of the controller.

VDJ will record anything you mix within the program. I'd guess Serato has the same feature. No need to use other programs or do any cable routing.

One more question. What is the best deal for serato pro? I see the one time buy of @120 bucks on the serato website?

I'd wait till Black Friday (2+ weeks) .. some of the software products are discounted. Traktor used to drop 50% each BF.

Yeah...it may even be worth it to spend an extra hundred on a better controller that comes with the software free....might as well put that money into a controller rather than the software

I could stand corrected on this but I think I read a while back that some of the software that comes with certain controllers is only partially enabled you may want to keep an eye out for that

I think 'partially enabled' means it doesn't have the expansion packs - but works with the base software. Example, the SZ2 works natively with Serato, but DVS, Video, Pitch N' Time, etc are all add on packs.

Unfortunately the pioneer sx3 does not come with any software,,,, I guess they have a big part of that market share to where they don’t need any incentives!

Doesn't it come with RekordBox?
