Since I don't know how to build a website I was looking for someone to build one that had a reasonable price to do it.

Someone did contract me but wanted a bit much. They would give you 5 pages, you can have 20 pictures, video content and they would allow you to keep making changes. Also they could add a Pay Pal link. The cost being $64.99 a month. That is outrageous to me. I & 1 hosting cost less than $22 for 3 months. Anybody have suggestions and what do you think of me going with that deal?

My thoughts are that's not enough pictures you can have on a website and too much money to spend for that.

That makes no sense having a monthly cost like that. I pay a yearly cost to godaddy for my domain and for my hosting (like $150 total per year since I have multiple urls). I then paid another company a separate fee to actually build and set up my website. I also pay them a small fee every 6 months or so to do maintenance/updates and that’s about it. My cost for them to just build my site was around $2500 I think back in 2016. If you want their info I’ll be more than happy to share it as their in Montclair. They also do 1 page websites where all the info of your brand is on a single page. I don’t know what info you have that would require 5 pages worth of info and photos. Even I only have 3 pages of actual info. (I don’t count my contact page or client login link as an actual page)

You know your designer doesn’t have to be near you now. Everything is done online. personally I charge you extra to come out and met a person unless it was a huge account. Just find someone you trust and like their work. I am with go daddy, I am the currently in process (2 months late) of redoing my site as I needed some new SSL and a couple of other features. I am doing it myself but I can definitely see outsourcing the website design. But a 2or 3 page site should take them long to do.

Come play a gig with me and I'll build you a website. I'll even take a picture of you playing that doesn't look awful so that you have a decent photo of yourself.
Hell yes! Let me know when and where to see if I can if I have the date available and can get away. I have a great picture of me on Wix right now. It was taken at my best friends 30th wedding anniversary. I wasn't the DJ for this one because I was in the wedding party. I had a nice Tux on with my face shaved and a bald head. That would be a great picture to use since I need more dentures. The ones I had one got lost and the uppers don't fit any more.

Unsure..... what is reasonably priced for some may not be the same to others. But as adj2ent mentioned, you don't need to use a local website developer.

I have used Mopro in the past and am currently using Optuno and GoDaddy. They do both design and hosting.
I did use 1&1 also for a while. They're rates are lower, but their creativeness and exposure were lacking.

Mix is just postulating and fishing (or is that phishing ?) .. we've gone through this process a few times in the past with previous offers of assistance for all aspects of his business.

Mix .. the pictures should be of the events, the excitement, the "fun" .. not really of you ...

But before then, you really need to cull out the not-so-flattering stuff out there, like these, otherwise another website might be a moot point:

I agree. There need to be at least one picture of us doing an event. Not a ton of pictures of us. The website is needed because on the business cards it has a website address abd there is no website presently. So that doesn't look good. People going online looking for a site that's not there.

I think I have seen some ads on TV where they say it's very easy to make your own website, and you can start out with a free site.....
WIX.COM

Here is a video. Here is what you do...

Step 1: Watch the Video
Step 2: Go to www.wix.com
Step 3: Familiarize yourself with the website editor tool, and start building your website.

Any questions on the basics? Refer back to the video!

Im having some major deja vu here, hmm, feels like we've done this dance before, a few times.

The option that Ricky B suggested is a very option, Squarespace always offers easy to make Websites I hear too. There are a host of very low cost options in 2019 to get your presence online. I got my website up and running for less than $100 thanks to all the help from @Big Dan , I went the wordpress route with separate hosting and purchased a theme , which is great if your knowledge is on the limited side for maintaining a website.

I think for you WIX would be a much better bet or just getting a domain and directing it to a Facebook page as suggested.

It would more beneficial for you to get new business cards

Buy the domain for ~$10 and forward it to your business's FB page. Forwarding is free at most registrars (domain name sellers).

You're unlikely to have a website done in the near future. Building out a website would be a waste of money right now.
^ This is the right answer.

I owned the albatrossdc.com web address long before I put the site up. You can own the web address now, and build a real website later.

Yep, I owned my domain for bit a before I put a website, I did put a basic landing page up if you will, that had basic info, but the real website came probably 5 years later.
