I have a Canon T3i and I'm looking for a much better external flash that you can also use to shoot video with. I have right now the Canon 320EX. My real issue is not with taking pictures using this flash but shooting video using this one. I helped out a couple of DJ friends of mine at the party they gave last Saturday. The pictures I took came out nice. The problem is the videos using this unit were terrible because the light on it wasn't bright enough and the lights were turned off except for the ones on the stage and near the front entrance. Anyone have suggestions for a better solution so when shooting video in a darkened room will turn out right? You could hardly see anything with those videos

I'm no camera expert, but I would assume they make a lense that will work better in low light, If you were filming with it at my event I would be super upset about the bright light being on while you were filming

Try a ring flash; for what you're doing you don't need an expensive one. This one will probably be fine... it works as a flash (maybe not as good as a speedlite, but it's decent) and you can set it to constant on for when you're shooting video.
