You mean the purchase the US Citizens made for you?I'm curious what Steve has to say about the purchase I made.

Even without focusing on video, most laptops set up to handle it better, generally are good overall for DJ purposes. A good video capable machine (better graphics, more cores, more RAM, etc.) can be had for only a few hundred more than an audio specific machine. I think it's worth the $200-$300 over the long run.Mix, really, video why would you even consider that? That’s insane unless you have the clientele who want to see videos at a event. Then there is the getting paid the money to do it and what would you be showing the videos on and do they or you have videos for the songs you play? I think there is only one or two here show videos at events. I believe Jeff can and I do as I am in the college market. But I mostly I play the videos at my Extreme Music Bingo & Outdoor Movies. Not too many video dance parties the past few years.
You didn't read what I posted. I gave up on being able to provide video for clients because we don't have the clients who will pay for it.Mix, really, video why would you even consider that? Just playing video is simple and cheap .. buy a long HDMI cable and require the client to provide the TV (or projector) .. it's only costly if you provide that gear. Just like big speakers and amp stacks, you can also RENT a projector and screen for the 1 time you might need it.You didn't read what I posted. You're thinking music videos and such. It can be videos of people at an event that people can see themselves on a screen or a monogram. Something like that. Anyway I decided to not do it even though I bought some stuff to do it with. I figured it wouldn't be feasible for us.

You should give up on dj'ing... you have NO clients who will pay for it.I gave up on being able to provide video for clients because we don't have the clients who will pay for it.
The keyboard won't light up if it's not a lighted keyboard. If you have it, hold the "Fn" button to the left of the space bar and simultaneously press the Space Bar. Each time you press those 2 buttons, it will cycle through the keyboard illumination levels (off, dim, bright) .. again, only if you have it (Lenovo laptops usually have a little logo on the left end of the Space Bar if you do).I am still trying to get used to the new laptop. It didn't come with instructions. I guess they just assume you know what to do.
2 issues I have. First how do you get the keyboard to light up and secondly I went to see if I could play Blue Ray DVD in the computer and found out you can't because there is no slot to put a CD/DVD. Now if I decide to make this my main laptop to DJ with that might create a problem because when doing an event I have had people come up to me to play a certain song from a CD. I know some will just have a flash drive to give you but some will have a CD for you to play a song. Now I also realize I may have to get a USB hub because this laptop has only 2 USB ports. Both my old ones have 3. Interesting on how to solve these issues.
Actually, unless you're reading just a USB stick .. you DO want a powered hub, since it can supply more power to the drive .. you might burn out your laptop's USB if you try to pull too much current through it.I went to Micro Center today and bought a USB hub along with a external CD/DVD drive. Just hookup the USB hub to one of the USB ports on the laptop. Then wire up the external drive to the hub and it reads the drive on the laptop. It's not a Blue Ray one. Just a regular one. The starting price for those are around $100. That's more than the Blue Ray player I got for the TV.
For me if I'm going to get VDJ installed on the new laptop, I need that external drive because sometimes people will come up with a CD for you to use at an event. So that solves that problem. The hub has 4 ports. They had some expensive ones costing like $60. Those ones are powered. Don't need that.
I know some will say a person handing you a CD is old school. Just remember some on them are old.

I just went and checked the air pressure in my tires. When i bought my new van... i just assumed it had a cassette player... i guess next time i should ask the salesman.
They really need instructions with these things.... i just parked in the median strip of the highway and walked to work.
